Another great RPG for the Master System

The Good
Golvellius: Valley of Doom is a great role playing game, with nice Japanese anime influences in its artwork and character design.

One area of 8-bit, gaming that the Master System seemed to excel in, was RPG games. The best that the undervalued system, at least for Americans, offered be seen with this game and a few other RPG titles (i.e. The Book of Y's and Golden Axe Warrior).

While us, Americans did not get official releases of every Master System game, we were thrilled to explore the vast and exciting RPG world of Golvellius.

The game offered us superior 8-bit graphics, music and sound effects. The story line and characters were entertaining, even funny a times. Heck, even the game play mechanics and level of difficulty are excellently designed.

For the -- apparently few -- Americans who owned a Sega Master system, Golvellius: Valley of Doom was nothing short of an incredible RPG game.

The Bad
It is hard to find any serious faults with the game. Perhaps the only noticeable flaw revolved around the design of the controller.

The Sega Master system controller did take some time to get used to. It was not as poorly designed as say other home console systems, but it was -- at best -- something of an acquired taste.

Although, if you are playing the game on a newer system, such as the iPhone, then the design of the Sega Master System controller is a non-issue.

The Bottom Line
Golvellius: Valley of Doom is a both great RPG game, and a great Sega Master System game. If you get a working Sega Master System you should give this game a try, but you will also enjoy playing it on your iPhone.
