Eyewitness Encyclopedia of Space and the Universe
Description
Eyewitness Encyclopedia of Space and the Universe is one of a series of educational titles from Dorling Kindersley that, in the UK, were eventually offered as free games with national newspapers.
In among all the articles, pictures and information are three games. * In the lower left of the main menu is a link named ACTIVITIES. This leads to two mini games held in a game box; + Land on the Moon: this is in the left hand of the game box and is a version of Lunar Lander in which the player has to successfully soft land NASA's lunar module
+ Launch a Rocket: in the right hand of the game box is a selection of rocket parts - main engines, booster stages, payloads etc. The player's task is to assemble a rocket from the correct components and press the launch button. If they are incorrect they will hear the sound of a car engine turning over but failing to start, if they are correct they will see a short clip of their rocket being launched.
- Also on the main menu is a link to QUIZ MASTER. This is a one or two player quiz played over any or all of the three categories of Space; Missions: and Technology. Quizzes are timed and can be of ten, twenty, fifty or one hundred and fifty questions, and all have a 'Find Out' feature to encourage the player to explore the title in search of the answer.
