Star Control II is an incredibly deep strategy game. This game is so deep, you should get college credits for finishing it! The 3-D rendered graphics of the alien worlds are beyond belief. The far-out landscapes and cosmic creatures are fantastic - better than recent sci-fi movies. (Heck, I think lately the best science fiction can be seen in the computer and video games and not at the movies, but I digress.) The voice acting is cheesy at times, but besides this one flaw, Star Control II has long-term play value with an entire galaxy to explore.Dec 1994 · 3DO

Surprisingly I like this version! I've seen the PC version, but this 3DO import blows it out of the water. The enhanced graphics really caught me eye. Of course the CD-quality sounds are definitely a plus for standards. Even though the sounds were great, it was hard listening to the other aliens trying to speak in English. The Versus Mode is still kept intact. If you love the PC version, you'll love this game.Oct 1994 · 3DO

Star Control 2 is a game you play for the wrong reasons. The RPG element, which the programmers spent the most time and effort on, is overshadowed by the two-player fight-to-death section. It was the strongest element on other formats, and is the best thing about this version. For friend deficient gamers, though, the RPG game is massive and very playable. But for us shallow and aggressive types, you can't beat a bit of head-to-head blasting.Dec 1994 · 3DO · read review

Star Control was originally released in the ascetic days of 8-bit games and its conversion to the 3DO does little to enhance the geriatric look. Sprites are blobby and backdrops unremarkable, with only new alien graphics and sampled speech hinting at 32bit potential. Still, the underlying structure of a huge, open-ended strategy cum exploration cum arcade game is as intriguing as ever. The two-player blast-'em-up mode is good fun too, making this dated title well worth investigating.Dec 1994 · 3DO · read review

This nicely crafted outer-space adventure definitely challenges the space between your ears. If you're into sci-fi and strategy games, Star Control II should keep you under control for days.Nov 1994 · 3DO

Mar 1995 · 3DO

Basically, what it comes down to is Star Control 2 could've been the 'must have' title on the 3DO. It was non-linear ahead of its time, and had so many options, that simply cannot be explored. The best solution is to get Ur-Quan masters for your PC, and try to mess with it so you don't have a damn clock. Then you'd have a genuine winner.Sep 24th, 2005 · 3DO · read review

Nov 1994 · 3DO · read review
Easily one of the best space adventures ever made.
This is the definitive classic Space Adventure. The gameplay is still solid and its filled with adventure, fun, action and a great story filled with some of the most bizarre characters. Even the 'text' adventures were great. The music is appropriate and does not get old quickly like many other games.
There are a few puzzles that are not quite logical. There is a time limit to the adventure. The resource gathering can be tedious.
The Bottom Line
One of the best classic space adventures made. Its still definitely worth playing.
