Bill Elliott's Crash Course In Racing

NO GUTS, NO GLORY!

Bill Elliott knows what it takes to become a NASCAR® champ: guts, skill, and a hot car. Well, we've given you the wheels, and now it's time to see if you've got what it takes to be crowned king of the road. Of course, before you burn rubber you should remember that at over 200 mph, you're either good, or you're the pits.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, START YOUR ENGINES.

To get rolling, remove the plastic cover on the game screen, buckle your seatbelts and press the ON/START Switch. This will display the highest ranking finish from the last completed circuit. Then, check your supply of nerves, count down from 3 and press the Accelerator Button.

To get your chance at the NASCAR Cup, you'll have to complete the NASCAR Circuit. The Circuit is made up of four different courses. And each course has ten tough laps. The number of completed laps will flash at the lower right corner of the screen. Small black squares will appear in the upper right portion of the screen, also indicating the number of laps completed.

If you successfully drive through each course, the next one will automatically begin with the three-second countdown.

HOW TO STAY ON TRACK.

Your ultimate objective (as established by NASCAR Champion Bill Elliott) is to finish as high in the standings as possible. To accomplish this, keep the pedal to the metal and your thumb on the wheel. To stay on the course and out of an opponent's back seat use the accelerator and brakes wisely while changing lanes cautiously. You'll also have to keep your eyes peeled for Curve Indicators, the cars in front of you, and the cars in your rearview mirror.

CAUTION.

To stay in contention you'll have to take some chances. If at any time during the race your rank goes over the Limit Rank (located in the lower right hand corner of the screen) you'll end up in the pits and the game will end. And, just to keep the race interesting, you'll notice that as you get closer to the finish line your rank must improve. There are several factors that will cause your rank to exceed the limit. For example, running into other cars, driving too slow, improper passing, etc.

Hey, if you're scared your nerves aren't made of steel, remember there's always room in the pace car.

NOTE: After you change your batteries, press the ALL CLEAR Key with a ballpoint pen to clear the screen.

The game turns itself off if not in use for a period of 60 seconds.
