Tackling such a time-honoured classic as âNarniaâ must have been an intimidating task. Fans of series should know though that Travellerâs Tales handled every detail of both games with great care and respect. A creative genius himself, C.S. Lewis would be proud that the developers have been faithful to his vision and that the âNarniaâ games might encourage children to explore the literary world he created.

Chronicles of Narnia is a perfectly fun dungeon crawler-style game, and probably about as close as you'll get to X-Men Legends on the DS. It'd be nice if the touch screen implementation was a little more intuitive, such as some way to have access to the map and your tactics screen at once, instead of having to tap the touch screen nearly half a dozen times total to swap between the two of them. The combat is often frustrating, but that's soon forgotten once you get into the heat of the battle. Chronicles of Narnia isn't a stellar game, but it will fill your action-adventure thirst for the DS. It's a fun romp, but it's also yet another average movie tie-in. Grab it up if you're really hungry for a hack'n'slasher.

This game has its shortcomings, yes, but it also manages a sound message to the fans it is trying to reach. The combination of DS and GBA products for Chronicles of Narnia should be blueprint for licensed products. Will they ever change the world? No. But they can be fun, and they can deliver different adventures for both systems rather than porting the GBA version and adding features for DS owners. In the end, Narnia is a flawed but entertaining game that shows what an appropriate design can do for a product. Narnia GBA delivers a decent overall production, and while it doesnât promise to be a Top 10 game, it will deliver some great entertainment if you give it the chance.

Stimmungsvolle Filmumsetzung, könnte aber etwas mehr Tiefgang vertragen.

In summary, The Chronicles of Narnia isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination. Children might not be too critical of the game's smaller blemishes such as the mind numbing collecting of coins and an often unfair camera that is completely fixed in position. And anyway, since the game is primarily aimed at children they probably don't really want to be worrying about readjusting the camera over and over or care that only six million more coins earns them another clip to spoil the enjoyment of the full film. Well, not as much as us cynical adults at any rate. Narnia entertains in parts, but just isn't anything you're likely to remember in gaming terms for longer than the time you spend playing it. Like the film's probable status, it's probably more something to rent rather than buy.

While Chronicles of Narnia has solid graphics and sound, a lengthy adventure, and an excellent story, its repetitive "fetch-and-retrieve" gameplay wears thin over the course of seventeen levels. The types of enemies you face and goals you accomplish don't change; they only become more numerous. While it's a good representation of the movie and its story, Chronicles of Narnia lacks the depth and variety of gameplay to be considered anything more than decent.

Unlike most movie games, Narnia for GBA is tolerable, but still lacks an overall polish. The game isnât exactly long as it can be completed in a few hours, but children will appreciate the slightly slower gameplay. Everything about this game screams borderline but compared to other movie-to-game conversions, it is slightly above average. Narnia works well as a GBA game that parents would want to buy for their younger kids, but if you are looking for a better, more detailed game, play Baldurâs Gate.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is actually pretty good as far as movie-to-GBA-game transitions go. But as a straight action adventure game it doesn't have much to offer. There are tons of better action adventure games available on the Game Boy Advance, which makes this game difficult to recommend even for fans of the movie.

The GBA version isnât anywhere near as time-consuming as the DS version. It only took me several hours to complete. For a kid, Iâm sure theyâd find this game less than fun, but after seeing the movie, Iâm sure theyâd love to get it. Itâs certainly nothing that great, but itâs a decent game based on a movie for GBA.
