Villervalla i Uppsala
Description
This is an educational game, aimed at teaching young children about taking safety measures to avoid accidents.
The premise is that adults of the town have become very careless in their daily life, and three superhero characters are engaged by the county chief to prevent accidents happening. This is realized in three mini-games where the player is performing preventative actions:
-
A house is left empty with risky things activated: lights turned on, hot stoves/ovens turned on, leaking radiator valves etc. The player character is required to enter the house and turn off everything indicated as a danger, and exit when done to get a grade.
-
Three kids have been poorly dressed by their parents, in mixed-up outfits; e.g. hocky-gear replaced with ski-gear; these must be switched by the player to prevent accidents when the kids are to go to their respective sports events.
-
A couple of road crossings with traffic lights are uncontrolled, and the player must manually turn on/off lights in the crossings, to prevent long queues and accidents.
This game was sponsored by a local insurance company in the Swedish town Uppsala.

Trivia
The game was developed as part of a local project 'Full Koll' in 2004, involving the insurance company LÀnsförsÀkringar Uppsala, the Police and Rescue Services, with the aim at raising awareness with young persons about accident and property damage prevention. The project as such is still ongoing, and has expanded to also include other hazards, such as drugs & alcohol risks.
