Power Sonic (7.5 out of 10) (75%)

O aúdio é bem analógico, no mesmo estilo do Nintendinho 8 bits, mas as músicas são até legais, combinam com o jogo, porém é muito fácil enjoar delas. Mas, os efeitos sonoros são bem legais, principalmente os de quando se pega anéis e quando se passa de fase. A jogabilidade não é das melhores, pois não vai ser sempre (SEMPRE mesmo!) que você vai acertar uma curva perfeitamente, ainda mais se for com o Sonic ou Eggman. E para se usar a habilidade especial, só é preciso pressionar o botão direcional pra cima. Enfim o ponto forte do jogo é a diversão que conta com um modo de 2 jogadores, um contra o outro, para ver quem chega primeiro.

Trop simple et trop rapide à terminer, Sonic Drift n'est malheureusement pas un titre qui passionnera les foules. Bien qu'inspiré de Super Mario Kart, le jeu ne procure pas autant de fun que ce dernier, le côté course étant davantage mis en relief que le côté castagne qui se révèle quasi inexistant. On ne rechignera toutefois pas à le découvrir, surtout dans une compilation mêlant d'autres titres old-school de Sonic.

Um es vorwegzunehmen: Mario Kart-Qualitäten werden hier, wie nicht anders zu erwarten war, nicht erreicht. Die Perspektive ist bspw. zu hoch angesetzt, so daß Kurven erst im letzen Augenblick erkannt werden können. Folge: Sonic Drift hat eher den Charakter eines simplen Reaktionsspieles, Das Fahrgefühl ist aber trotzdem gut, zumal man schon nach wenigen Runden mit der unkomplizierten Steuerung zurecht kommt; kleiner Nebeneffekt: Der Ein-Spieler-Modus ist deutlich zu einfach geraten. Selbst auf Hard meistert man auf Anhieb die schwierigste Runde und kommt noch dazu als erster durchs Ziel. Sonic Drift baut in erster Linie auf die eingebaute Batterie (Rekordzeiten-Hatz ist angesagt) und die Zwei-Spieler-Option.

Exclusif au marché nippon, Sonic Drift a divisé les gamers pourtant, il ne faut pas oublier que, outre un spin-off, c'est une production destinée à la console portable de maître SEGA. Oui, il est court, oui, il ne propose que quatre personnages cependant, c'est aussi un titre idéal pour passer un bon petit moment en compagnie de Sonic et de sa bande d'autant plus que l'ambiance "Sonic The Hedgehog" est plutôt fidèlement reproduite. Ajoutons un packaging de qualité, avec une jolie boîte et un manuel haut en couleurs (comme d'habitude diront certains avec SEGA Japon) et au final, on a un soft qui mérite tout de même, sa petite place dans votre collection Game Gear... après tout, c'est quand même le premier soft auquel on peut jouer avec Amy et ce adorable fou Robotnik pour la première fois ;).

The sense of speed is fantastic and using a boost results in you teetering on the edge of control in an exhilarating fashion. Each of the six worlds are taken from the original Sonic the Hedgehog (1991, Sega Genesis) which is a nice touch. All four selectable drivers play very differently to each other and offer unique end credit cut-scenes to aide replayability. Some excellent music on offer including a terrific version of You Can Do Anything from Sonic CD (1993, Sega CD). The tracks are incredibly narrow, and as a result overtaking can be unnecessarily difficult, particularly when cornering. The track layouts are deeply uninspired and the six themed worlds aren't brought to life in any meaningful way. Lack of any combat-based items leaves the gameplay feeling rather shallow, and the races themselves are very short.

Combine poor controls, a soundtrack that can best be described as "technically a soundtrack, although more like someone fell face first into a Fisher-Price xylophone", graphics that fail to stun, and two eggs, then whisk briskly until chunky. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes, and let sit permanently on your shelf until disintegrated by time.
