Gamer's Pulse (9.4 out of 10)

There is no reason for anyone to miss this great game. It is widely available, except to those non-PC, Playstation or N64 only owners, and comes at the lowest price possible. With more modes and maybe a random level generator Sega could have easily released it as a priced Dreamcast game, but I am glad they decided to release it for free. Beginners need not worry about complex strategies to play the game, and Experts will not got bored from the simple mechanics of the game. There are no more excuses why you should not have this game, so either download it to your computer or go out and get a Dreamcast version. I recommend the Dreamcast version since its presentation is nicer, it has the split screen mode, and if that’s not enough, it also has a cool snake that reacts to all of your moves. What a great way to spread the word about the Dreamcast. Way to go Sega!

Considering how good this game is, it is totally amazing of Sega to give it out free. Do your self a favor and find a copy of this gem. You won't be disappointed.

IGN (8.2 out of 10)

While SEGA Swirl may not be the greatest puzzle game of all time, there is plenty here that will keep you busy in-between those hardcore Soul Calibur and DOA2 jam sessions. Relaxing and a breeze to play, (that zero balance price tag helps a lot too) you can't go wrong with this, "the little game that could."

Gaming Target (7.9 out of 10)

If this were a game that you actually had to dole out 50 bucks for, it probably would be on the high end of a rental. But since you only need to buy a Dreamcast in the recent few months (With Browser v2.0, the home of this title), or easier yet, to grab a copy of ODCM, this game is a great addition to any gamer's library. Such an enjoyable experience for free, this is indeed a Diamond in the Rough...

With Sega Swirl Sega has provided Dreamcast owners with a welcome gift. Sega Swirl is a game for all ages, it is simple to play, features good multi-player modes, is compatible with the modem and, best of all, it is free. Make sure you find yourself a copy of this game, especially if you are a puzzle addict.

If you haven't done so yet, head over to Sega Swirl and get this game. As stated before, both versions are given away through a download (PC) and the demo disc with the Official Dreamcast Magazine. This is a great addition to the Sega puzzle library (Columns, Dr. Robotniks Mean Bean Machine, Baku Baku Animal)...

Gerade weil es sich hier um einen kurzweiligen Puzzle-Titel handelt, kann man kritische Fragen wie Technik, Umfang und Langzeitmotivation getrost ignorieren. Trotzdem muss ich ein bisschen meckern. Der Erfolg bei diesem Spielprinzip ist mir zu wenig vom Spieler abhängig. Ich selbst hatte einmal nur eine sehr hohe Punktzahl, weil zufällig über die Hälfte der „Swirls“ von einer Farbe waren. Außerdem spielen sich andere Vertreter wie „Puyo Puyo“, „Tetris“ oder „Bust-A-Move“ ein wenig flotter. Sega Swirl macht aber immer noch genug Spaß um hin und wieder in die Dreamcast gelegt zu werden.

The Video Game Critic (C)

The graphics are nothing special, but they don't need to be. My main gripe is with the statistics displayed on the side of playing board. The information isn't very useful, and you have to wait until your game is over to see the good stuff. Overall, Swirl is a pleasant way to pass the time, and the price is right.

I’m going to be honest here, it’s a boring game. It’s just not that engaging? I don’t feel so accomplished for selecting stuff that’s the same color? It’s basically just a cell phone game. (Is this on cell phones? It’s probably on cell phones in some form.) But hey… Sega Swirl was included for free in my Dreamcast Magazine demo discs, so it’s not like I had to drop 50 bucks for it or something. But why play that when there’s a demo for Skies of Arcadia or San Francisco Rush 2049 to be had?
