Project Gotham Racing 3 is an amazing visual treat and though the gameplay may feel a bit too similar to Project Gotham Racing 2 in a number of ways, the overall experience can be summed up in two words: simply incredible.

As far as racers go, you can't do a whole lot better than PGR3 on the Xbox 360. The game blends the realistic speed of the Gran Turismo series with the style of an arcade racer, all while looking great to boot. Besides that, it's probably one of the best games you can own for Xbox Live. A challenging and stylish experience, Project Gotham Racing 3 was great as an Xbox 360 launch title, and it's still ranks as one of the best games on the console.

Over the past summer, I became a pedestrian for the first time since I turned sixteen years old. My San Francisco-based job at the 1UP offices afforded me the opportunity to forego the costs of owning an automobile and allowed me, for the first time in my life, to rely solely on public transportation; I've appreciated the change -- especially the large chunk now left in my wallet -- and yet every few weeks I really get the urge to cue up my current iPod playlist and get back behind the wheel my former car.

In the end Project Gotham Racing 3 is the most solid and polished launch title for the Xbox 360 and it's most certainly the prettiest racer ever. Sorry Gran Turismo, but you've got nothing on these cars. PGR 3 screams to be viewed in 1080i. On a normal TV the game never really gets a chance to show its true colors. The game doesn't do anything truly revolutionary or elevate the series to a new plateau of quality. But the gameplay and presentation is incredibly polished. More than anything, the game is damn fun. Worth every penny.

Simply put Bizarre Creations has crafted, in this reviewer’s opinion, the perfect racing game. The sheer amount of modes, options, cars is enough to hook the casual while the hardcores will enjoy building up Kudos and trying to make appearances on Gotham TV. With stellar Xbox Live integration and an almost infinite number of ways to play the game Project Gotham Racing 3 is the definition of what next-gen gaming should be. I simply cannot recommend this title more, if you own and Xbox 360 do yourself a favor and buy it now!

The Project Gotham series has served Microsoft well as its premier racing title. Beginning with the first entry which launched with the original Xbox in 2001, PGR has distinguished itself with stellar graphics, real city tracks and great gameplay which relied heavily on “Kudos”, a system that rewards the player with points for pulling off cool maneuvers like powerslides and other stylish moves. PGR2 took the racing online and upped the ante with real, live competition via the Internet, and now Project Gotham Racing 3 combines the best elements of both of the initial entries into an astonishingly gorgeous, fully-featured single and multiplayer next gen shred-fest with an incredible amount of cool, top-of-the-line speed machines to collect and race.

Anyone that owns an Xbox 360 should play Project Gotham Racing 3. This game demonstrates the power of the system with amazing visuals, audio, and a plethora of gameplay options. And to top off this treat of next-gen goodness are solid controls, the photo mode, Geometry Wars demos, and the most solid online racing to date. This game will be a defining title for the Xbox360 for a long time to come.

Bizarre Creations’ latest racer shows off the Xbox 360’s eye candy. The Project Gotham Racing (PGR) series has always been a looker, with both games maximizing the original Xbox’s potential at the time of release. PGR 3 is the game that really shows off the muscle of the Xbox 360’s graphical prowess, but beneath that is a solid racer to boot.

I will make it clear to you; anyone who was lucky enough to get an Xbox 360 should own this game. It is perhaps the greatest of the launch titles, certainly the ones published by Microsoft - It has great depth and playability and will last you as long as you want it to. Bizarre have crafted a wonderful title that is rightly one of the greatest racing games we have ever witnessed. I would be surprised if PGR 3 did not take over from PGR 2 as one of the best games played on Xbox Live, it certainly possesses features that no other game has. I recommend this game to everyone, it is a great title for newcomers to the racing genre, I was not a massive racing fan before playing this game, but as some of our forumers may tell you - this game has not been out of my Xbox 360. So the Project Gotham Racing series once again lays down the marker for others to catch up to, roll on PGR 4!

PGR 3 is the racing game to get for your 360. It is the best racing game you can get on launch day. Sure, there are a few accessibility issues, and the drive to complete the game is not as powerful as it once was, but these are hardly important when you look at the game as a whole. It is gorgeous, sounds amazing, and for once has an online community full of people who are actually nice. Don't think about it. Buy this game.

When the original Xbox hit the gaming scene four years ago, one of the launch titles was a racer called Project Gotham Racing, basically a retooled version of the Dreamcast hit, Metropolis Street Racer. The graphics where good and the gameplay was solid, but developer Bizarre Creations still had a lot of things to iron out and perfect. They did just that with PGR 2, a title that many still consider as one of the best racers ever. The graphics were stunning and near photorealistic at times, the gameplay was about as close to perfection as they could be, and the title brought the series online with one of the best multiplayer experiences on Xbox Live. Microsoft has just released its second game console, the Xbox 360, and the next iteration of the series, Project Gotham Racing 3, is among the launch titles.

Bizarre Creations has had a heck of a run. Piling up the kudos from a rolling start with Metropolis Street Racer (Dreamcast), then power sliding around a huge turn to land launch title Project Gotham Racing on the original recipe Xbox, they’ve kept the crowd cheering for more than five years. When they surged ahead of the racing pack with PGR2, fans wondered if anyone could ever catch up…and now they have their answer. With a ridiculously showy Never-ending Drift, Project Gotham Racing 3 has crossed the finish line as the Number One racer for the Xbox 360 at launch – and the competition wasn’t even close.

With the launch of the Xbox 360 there's quite a good selection of games available and one of the main questions friends and family are continually asking me is "which game should I pick up with my new Xbox 360?" Well it's not really an easy answer as there are at least one or more games from each of the main genres and they all range from fairly solid, to great to awesome. In my opinion while Project Gotham Racing 3 (from now on PGR3) is an incredible looking racer, many people may look at it as suffering from a lack of "next-generation innovation", it's a quality racer through and through with some of the best graphics out of all the launch titles and a few great new features as well.

It seems every launch has a great racing game and Project Gotham Racing 3 fills that role nicely for the 360. Frankly, there’s not much missing here and it highlights many of the strengths of the 360. If you not familiar with the Project Gotham Racing series, it thrives on semi-realistic street racing, close attention to graphic detail, and plenty of features to keep you busy for some time. Project Gotham Racing 3 takes the concepts of PGR2 and gives it a slick new presentation, as well as some intriguing Live features. The core game here is precisely the same as it was in Project Gotham Racing 2 on the Xbox, but the addition of more Live functionality improves the game considerably. The graphics are utterly gorgeous, as well. For the offline gamers out there, though, there just isn't much here. If you don't have Live, you'll want to take a rain check on this title. There are three racing titles out for the the 360's launch, and Project Gotham Racing 3 does well enough to distinguish it from the other two. It's built from the ground up to utilize the hardware and Xbox Live service, and it looks and offers an online experience much better than any racing title before it. Unfortunately, the game may not be the favorite of many gamers at first due to the extremely particular simulation-style gameplay. For fans of the genre, there'll likely be no game you'll enjoy as much as this one for quite some time. For gamers who prefer a more straightforward racer, the gorgeous graphics may just serve as the gateway to the eventually inviting gameplay. Either way, PGR3 deserves a look.

No, Project Gotham Racing 3 doesn’t have a lot added to the gameplay department beyond what was in the Project Gotham Racing 2 game that came out a scant two years ago for the Xbox, but it did beef up the Live support, pump up the visuals and made the actual sensation of driving that much better. The lack of gameplay innovation in the series keeps it from soaring into the stratosphere, but for shear driving fun, Project Gotham Racing delivers.

Simply put, PGR3 is just about the most involving and exciting arcade-sim racing experience yet. Its amazing graphics and sound show off the true power of the Xbox 360. So is it perfect? Not quite. The one problem with PGR3 is the length of its single player Gotham Career. While online it has endless potential, players without Xbox Live may feel the 90 events in the Gotham Career don't last quite as long as they might want, especially compared the 172 single player events in PGR2. However the 5 difficulty levels give the game extra lifespan and you will want to do your very best to unlock the achievement badges. Despite its one major shortcoming PGR3 is easily the best racing game, nay any genre, in the Xbox 360 launch range. A 'must buy' game for any early Xbox 360 player.

I haven't even talked about the route creator that lets you race online with friends on the tracks you've created, or the in-car view that has to be seen to be believed, or how there's a crowd around the track that reacts as you smash into barriers. I could have moaned about the relatively poor work that's gone into making crashes look realistic (hit a wall head on and you'll just stop, nothing more) or how there's still no penalty for smashing into other drivers (other than losing your Kudos multiplier), but it would have been trivial. Project Gotham Racing 3 is a stunning game and a truly next-gen package. The fact that there will be better to come is very exciting indeed.

Project Gotham Racing 3 for the Xbox360 is here and we will have known it. The feeling of speed and the level of empathy with the in-car view creates an adrenaline rush and is unseen, the visuals, surroundings and cars in high definition are to lick your fingers and the sound is simply realistically raw. Too bad the solo-mode is a bit too short - something people without Xbox Live will be disappointed about - and are the loading times just a bit too long to talk about a true racing revolution. Nonetheless this game is very promising for what will be possible in the future on the Xbox360 and a must-have if you like racing games and are planning to buy Microsoft's next-gen console.

So there we have it, PGR3 is great fun, gorgeous to look at and hoot to play online. It's not perfect, not by any means, the limited cities and some limited on replays do take a little of the lustre away, but on the whole this is a very strong game. The much vaunted Gotham TV is fun, but more welcome is being able to save your replays when playing with friends rather than watching strangers. PGR3 is a game that Xbox Live players will still have in their drives when a sequel arrives and in the meantime, if Bizarre sensibly adds to the size of the cities via downloadable content, the game will inch towards perfection. Yes, having played the game I'm still just as excited about PGR3.

Its unparalleled presentation, pleasing accessibility to players of all skill levels and the exhilarating rush of careening through some of the most famous and awe-inspiring real-life locations - incidentally in some of the fastest and most awe-inspiring real-life vehicles - all add up to make PGR3 one of the must-have titles on the Xbox 360, despite its minor (almost to the point of being irrelevant) shortcomings, which are few and far between anyway. PGR3 hasn't moved from its niche, not at all - at its core, it's still pure PGR, a savvy and standalone mixture of real form and hyper-real function - but it's been transformed into a wondrous and rewarding beauty spot. It's no contender for the thrones occupied by OutRun 2, Gran Turismo or Ridge Racer, just the true heir to its own. It further closes the gaps between player, pad, console and TV by offering something so luxuriously pliant and gratifying for all standards of player, and sits comfortably among the advantages of high-definition gaming, as was likely to be expected from such a series. But that's not to rob Bizarre Creations of its entitlement to this achievement, in producing one of the most accessibly intense and outstanding racing experiences ever to be had, and felt.

Project Gotham Racing 3 is truly a showcase of what the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live has to offer. It has a decent offline mode with different challenges, but some of these challenges are more exciting than others. I would've liked to have seen more races than pylon and speed challenges, but that might be just me. Online mode is where Project Gotham Racing 3 really shines and if you are into online racing then look no further than PGR3 on Xbox 360. The graphics and sound effects are great and the music and controls are decent, but could use little more tuning. The music can easily be fixed by playing your own custom soundtrack and the controls you will get use to, so just give them some time. All-in-all, Project Gotham Racing 3 is a solid racing game that is a showcase for what the Xbox 360 can do. The scary thing is that this a launch title, so what should we expect a year or two from now from racing games on Xbox 360?

Project Gotham Racing 3 is an excellent racing title that pretty much lived up to the hype. The game sits up there as one of the best looking titles on the 360, but unlike games like Quake 4, PGR3 also provides solid gameplay. If you don't have Xbox Live, the game may seem a little lacking, but the Xbox 360 really is all about Live anyway, so if you don't have it yet, get out there and buy it. Racing fan or not, if you're looking for a game that will keep you entertained for quite some time, PGR3 is it. I went in expecting the world but only got the wealthiest country - but that's the kind of silver medal you can still be proud of.

Aside from a couple of niggles, the whole package in PGR3 is very well put together and tightly integrated with Live. There are lots of nice touches such as the ticker-tape scroller announcing when someone has broken into the top-ten of the premier league, and there are so many lush cars to collect and lust after. There are numerous different leagues to conquer in both online and offline play: in short, PGR3 is well polished. It’s a shining example of how the arcade-racing genre should be done, and it is an essential purchase for all gear heads with an Xbox360. In fact you probably already own it.

I would have to say that PGR3 is definitely a buyer for those picking up a spankin' brand new 360. Even with the minor shortcomings they don't really outweigh the great graphics, great sound and overall great gameplay that this title provides. Add to all of this an online mode that provides an excellent racing experience and you have a launch title that should be added to your 360 gaming library. The future really does look bright for Microsoft's new console, as does the future of the PGR series.

PGR3 may not have changed the winning formula but it’s hard to fault a title that stays true to such a successful recipe. A few minor problems keep the title from reaching perfection, most notably the availability of only 4 cities to choose from, but nothing that really hampers gameplay. The complete graphical overhaul and just plain magnificent presentation goes a long way to making this a compelling next-gen experience Add in the refined game-play and killer additions to Xbox live, especially Gotham TV, and you’ve got one of the best launch titles, and a must buy for any fan of racing games.

So there we have it. PGR3 is at times a very different beast from its predecessors with its select car list whilst at the same time keeping the core of the series alive with the Kudos system and driving with style ethos firmly intact. As a launch day game this is a winner, small niggling issues aside, this is firmly a next generation title and spending one race from the in-car view re-affirms this more than any other facet of the game. At the end of the day Bizarre Creations have delivered on the promise of everything we have seen of the game up until now and this is without a doubt the best racing title on the Xbox 360 platform so far. Although many gamers would've liked to see the "shooter" category grounded by Halo 3, much like Halo 1 filled the original Xbox's shooter hole, Microsoft instead repeated history only in the racing category with Project Gotham Racing 3.

Just a few short years ago Microsoft and Bizarre Creations started the niche racing game Metropolis Street Racer and branded a new franchise from its Dreamcast ashes with Project Gotham Racing. Forming a game around style points felt a little like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, but the crowds grew because the system was built upon a fun premise of driving well and trying to pull off moves that formed combos. With Project Gotham Racing 2 came improved graphics, performance, greater accessibility, and with the most impressive trait, its vast online component, PGR2 landed on an Xbox shelf in gamers' game library. Even with a handful of Need For Speeds, two Midnight Clubs, and a Forza Motorsport, dedicated Xbox fans say one of their favorite games on the system -- that they still play online today -- is PGR2.

In the end, what PGR3 really improves over PGR2 is simply its looks and its incredible in-car camera. There was nothing wrong with the core gameplay of PGR2 and thankfully, PGR3 doesn’t tinker with it much. This iteration is also a much more accessible game than PGR2 and will please more casual fans with its varied difficulty levels, cars, tracks, looks and challenges. While the solo campaign isn’t as long as PGR2’s, the bulk of my time with either game has been spent playing online and among the launch titles, PGR3 is hands-down the best online multiplayer game for the masses. A stellar game that is easy to recommend without reservation, it just may not be the upgrade that PGR2 fans expect.

I used to live down a road that curved left, banana-like round to my house at the end. To get onto it you had to do a 90-degree right turn. What I used to do when I drove in was lock the steering hard right to enter, and then see how far I could get up the road as the steering wheel unravelled itself before the indicator registered the straightening and clicked off. Until it did that, it sounded like Kudos-clicking. That's about as close as I've ever come to PGR in real life.
