All in all this is a solid expansion to an already stellar game, one that adds considerable content and strategy without mucking up the core mechanics that made the Battlefield 2 experience so much fun in the first place.

EA’s Battlefield 2 has been an online tour-de-force since it was first released last year, providing gamers with huge and intense multiplayer battles and a wide array of modern weapons. Also, aside from the Special Forces expansion pack, the game’s creators have taken a rather unorthodox method of creating new content for the game in that they have released booster packs for it that are available for purchase online through EA’s download service. Battlefield 2: Armored Fury is the most recent of such booster packs. While not a full-fledged expansion pack of the game, Armored Fury offers up a few new maps and vehicles. At only $9.99 through the download service, Armored Fury is a great value for fans of the game.

Overall the maps each provide for some fun gameplay. Even though the maps emphasize armored battles, there are plenty of obstructions and gun emplacements to give infantry some chance of survival. On the booster pack's first day of release there were plenty of servers running each of the maps, so finding an opportunity to get your money's worth out of the booster shouldn't be an issue. At $9.99 it's hard not to recommend Armored Fury to Battlefield 2 fans looking to add more variety to the game.

Das zweite – nur als Download verfügbare - Boosterpack Armored Fury für Battlefield 2 ist vom Prinzip her - genau wie sein direkter Vorgänger - kein echtes AddOn. Drei Karten und eine handvoll neuer Fahrzeuge sind dafür einfach zu wenig. Wer darüber hinweg sehen kann, der bekommt ein wirklich frisches Setting geboten, das es so in der Battlefield-Reihe noch nicht zu sehen gab und Maps, die mal wieder sehr gut ausbalanciert sind. Die neuen Aufklärungshubschrauber sind eine sinnvolle Verbesserung und bringen so ein wenig mehr Taktik ins Spiel. Wie schon bei Euro Force ist dieses Mini-AddOn kein Pflichtkauf und nur vorbehaltlosen Anhängern zu empfehlen. Doch etwas mehr wird dennoch geboten und somit gibt es eine leicht erhöhte Wertung.

Armored Fury brengt zonder twijfel een paar interessante nieuwe speelterreinen en voertuigen naar het Battlefield 2 gebeuren. Langs de andere kant blijft het afwachten of de fans hier echt geïnteresseerd in zullen zijn. Het voorgaande Euro Force bracht ook boeiend spul, maar is slechts op een handjevol servers te spelen.

Three new maps, three new jets and three new helicopters isn't a lot of new content. We'd love to have seen a wider variety of maps, some new ground vehicles and maybe even a new kit. Still, the strength of the maps alone is enough to make this booster pack a sure thing for more Battlefield 2 players. The new planes still aren't balanced but this isn't anything that veteran Battlefield 2 players haven't already put up with.

Operation Road Rage has a slick Road Warrior aspect, with smoking ruined cars along a war-torn interstate. The central feature is a sprawling cloverleaf with a flag atop a hard-to-reach overpass. North and south are a mall, a junkyard, a truck stop, and a water tower that all but screams "Hey, base jump me!" Road Rage is a great gimmick map that, unlike the aircraft carrier in Special Forces, plays well.

Even as a huge fan, I'm amazed that a year after its release, Battlefield 2 is still holding strong as the top multiplayer shooter in its class. The second booster pack für BF 2 extends its lifespan even further, and feels more refined than the last outing, Euro Forces.

Für 10€ sind das auf jeden Fall zu wenig Neuerungen, vor allem da es nicht einmal neue Waffen gibt. Zwar sind die neuen Karten wirklich cool zum Spielen (vor allem die Alaska Map), doch die hätte man auch in einem Patch einbauen können. Genau aus diesen Gründen hat das Spiel nur 50% bei der Spieltiefe erhalten! Empfehlen können wir das Booster-Pack nur Hardcore-BF2-Zockern.

Armored Fury is Dice's second "booster pack" for Battlefield 2 - that is, a small expansion you can download for a small price. Since it's even smaller than the size of a regular expansion, I'll try to pare this review down to the essentials.

Gamer Within (7.6 out of 10)

Overall, the expansion adds some great new maps and several new vehicles that once again extend the life of this excellent shooter. Bringing the battle to American soil has been too long in coming, and while a more urban environment would be nice, the current world terrorist situation makes that an unlikely setting to appear in the game. Instead suburbia and the rural townships do nicely. The biggest drawback to Armored Fury will be in its adoption rate.

Ich bleibe dabei: Drei Karten sind ein Patch, kein Addon. Wenigstens bietet Armored Fury spielerisch mehr als Euro Force: Die Aufklärer haben taktischen Wert, die Karten bringen mit dem neuen Szenario Abwechslung auf den Server - falls der problemlos läuft. Denn seit Patch 1.3 bekomme ich technische Probleme, die ich vorher nie hatte. Und wenn's schon den Installations-Code im Laden gibt, warum legt EA nicht auch noch eine Daten-CD dazu?

There's no question that Armored Fury has some interesting new levels to battle around. The bigger question is just how valuable will this booster pack be? While Euro Force, the first booster pack, also packed lots of great content, the sheer fact remains that there are only a handful of servers that feature Euro Force levels today, most of those run by EA. The vast majority of servers hosted by clans and other third parties skipped Euro Force so as to not alienate anyone in the player base. If the same goes for Armored Fury, then odds are you'll only find a handful of servers that support this booster pack. That's a pity, too, because American battlefields are something the Battlefield 2 community has wanted since day one.

Nothing is bad here, and having planes that are slow enough that the nonelite of BF2 can engage them with ground-based weapons is a good change to the core game. Even though one of the three new maps doesn't feature the new planes, the inclusion of so many vehicles and the idyllic American settings makes it feel fresh anyway (Operation Road Rage's tangle of ruined East Coast freeways is more or less like driving in Boston). A miniexpansion where armor and air are the keys to gameplay doesn't really add a lot to the whole BF2 experience, but it's nice to indulge without having to fight for a plane.

PC Powerplay (63 out of 100)

Die Luftkämpfe gehören für mich seit jeher zu den wenigen schwächeren Teilen von Battlefield 2. Warum ausgerechnet die im Mittelpunkt des zweiten Booster-Packs stehen, ist mir schleierhaft. Mit dem Hubschrauber über die Schlachtfelder zu knattern, macht schon mehr Laune als mit den Jets, aber die neuen Modelle unterscheiden sich nicht groß von denen im Original. Die drei frischen Karten gefallen mir dafür ausgesprochen gut: Es geht hart und schnell zur Sache. Ein Paradies für Panzerfahrer und Antitank-Schützen. Auch wenn die eingeschränkte Sichtweite nach wie vor ein Problem ist. Wer dagegen auf Häuserkämpfe und klassische Infanteriegefechte steht, investiert sein Geld lieber in das umfangreichere, allerdings auch teurere Addon Special Forces.

While Armored Fury brings a lot of nice touches to Battlefield 2, especially if you like using aircrafts, but nothing that really changes the look and feel of the game. Although there aren't many maps, they are clever and challenging. For the very low price, it might be worth it for many to pick up. But aside from the radar choppers and the very exciting Operation Road Rage map, players wouldn't be missing out on too much.The biggest draw for this booster comes from the maps and large selection of aircraft.

Während die einen froh waren, Nachschlag zu EAs Militär-Shooter serviert zu bekommen, meckerten die anderen über Preis und Umfang. War es in den vergangenen Jahren noch gang und gäbe, zusätzliche Karten, Waffen und Fahrzeuge gratis im Internet anzubieten, zieht das Battlefield 2: Euro Force Booster Pack dem Spieler knapp zehn Euro aus der Tasche. Dies ist drei Monate später bei Armored Fury nicht anders. Zücken Sie schon mal Ihren Geldbeutel.

De manière malheureusement assez prévisible, Armored Fury s'inscrit dans la continuité du précédent booster pack pour Battlefield 2, Euro Force. EA n'a donc pas changé son fusil d'épaule, même suite à l'accueil général plus que mitigé réservé à ce dernier, et livre donc ici une mini-extension qui, sans être ratée ,peine à faire croire que l'éditeur vise autre chose que le porte-monnaie. Ce second booster arrive même à fournir un contenu inférieur en quantité au précédent, du fait de l'absence d'un nouveau camp et des armes allant avec.

The bombing-obsessed new planes and infantry-hunting light helicopters don’t necessarily fix any of the BF2 balance issues, but neither am they as vicious as those in the base game. Combined with the tons of armor on the map, though, they introduce fun changes to the air/armor/infantry dance, making Fury well worth your $10.
