Die niedlichen Pinatas der gleichnamigen TV-Serie aus den USA machen Spielern jedem Alters Spaß, der Garten ist wunderbar gut zu organisieren und das gesamte Spielerlebnis ist einfach nur entspannend. Wer stresslosen Spaß mit niedlichen Figuren und Aufbaucharakter sucht wird hier auf jeden Fall fündig!

Viva Piñata ist mit seinen zahlreichen Tierarten und der liebenswerten Präsentation ein großer Spaß für alle, die Spiele wie Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing oder auch Die Sims mögen und von so viel geballter Niedlichkeit keine Zahnschmerzen bekommen. Bei der Steuerung war das Konsolen-Original etwas leichter zu handhaben, ansonsten macht die Umsetzung genauso viel Freude wie auf der Xbox 360.

Eigentlich würde ich an dieser Stelle gerne die Wertung aussprechen, die sich die Xbox 360-Version redlich verdient hat. Doch die 85% samt Gold-Award kann ich der PC-Version nicht guten Gewissens geben. Technisch sauber und ebenso knuddelig und familienfreundlich wie die Konsolen-Piñatas sind es die Kleinigkeiten, die entscheidende Punkte abknabbern. Dazu gehört z.B. die immer wieder nervenden und vor allem nicht replizierbaren Abstürze. Auch die nur unzureichend angepassten Menü-Strukturen sowie die halbgare Maus-/Tastatur-Steuerung (wohl dem, der ein 360-Pad für den PC hat!) sorgen für Abzüge. Sehr sehr schade! Denn ansonsten hätte Viva Piñata das Vorzeigebeispiel für eine perfekte Umsetzung von 360 auf PC sein können. So ist es "nur" ein im positivsten Sinne zuckersüßes Aufbau-Spiel, das dem Spieler nach wie vor enorme Freiheiten bietet, Entdecker- und Experimentier-Drang fördert und genauso schön anzuschauen wie zu spielen ist.

Viva Piñata hält über weite Strecken was es verspricht: Es ist einfach zu erlernen, motiviert anfangs ungemein und unterhält so über viele Stunden durch sein ungewöhnliches Spielprinzip. Hat man aber erstmal die maximale Ausbaustufe erreicht, alle Piñatas gesehen und seinen Garten mit Dekoration und Pflanzen zugepflastert, ist die Luft, und somit die Motivation weiterzuspielen, raus. Doch bis es soweit ist, vergehen viele vergnügliche Stunden auf Piñata Island.

There is a definite charm to Viva Piñata that’s tough to convey. Although I played the 360 version heavily for a couple weeks, I found myself sucked back into the life of a gardener and desperately trying to remember how to get that elusive dragon egg to appear. Viva Piñata has a steep learning curve for the younger players, but kids with a couple years of reading under their belt shouldn’t have a problem due to the multitude of text screens. While the Windows for Live process has been poorly implemented across the board for these new Microsoft PC titles, the addictive nature of Viva Piñata will delight people of all ages and keep you pecking away at the keyboard to mate your newly acquired species of Piñata.

Viva Piñata is op de PC nog altijd dat leuke spelletje dat een jaar geleden voor de Xbox 360 verscheen. Alle ingrediënten zijn nog steeds aanwezig, waardoor zowel jong als oud het nodige speelplezier uit deze titel kan halen. Het is dan ook een enorme zonde dat de ontwikkelaar er niets aan heeft gedaan om het spel wat aan te passen zodat het soepel gespeeld kan worden op een PC. De besturing verloopt nu wat onlogisch, wat er uiteindelijk toch voor gaat zorgen dat er een stukje speelplezier wegebt. Het je de game echter nog nooit eerder gespeeld, dan is de PC-versie van Viva Piñata een excellent cadeautje voor onder de kerstboom.

In the end, it's a testament to the game's charm and deeply satisfying strategy that we still wanted to play despite the problems. Wonderful family-friendly "farming sims" like Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing have long been the exclusive province of consoles. Viva Pinata certainly deserves to be mentioned in such august company and it's a great option for PC gamers who don't own a console and are willing to push past the bugs (or wait for the inevitable patch). If only Microsoft could have exercised a bit more of the gardener's patience and attention to detail, Viva Pinata could have been a bumper crop of gaming goodness.

More elegance in the interface, fewer lulls in activity and a better way of gently directing you towards its hidden delights would have carried the score higher, but even with its flaws Viva Piñata is a game that deserves to be played and refreshes your belief that games can be friendly as well as fun. Give it a go, and give Microsoft incentive to commission more of these interesting and unusual concepts that its talented coven of in-house developers clearly enjoy making.

Ich kenne ja einige Konsolentitel von Rare. Die meisten wirken wie Spiele für Kinder oder Frauen – wegen der Knuddelgrafik. Dabei steckt sehr viel Tiefgang hinter der Optik, der sogar Erwachsene anspricht. So auch in Viva Piñata, ich kann nach Stunden nicht aufhören, weil ich stets meinen Garten erweitern und neue Tierchen züchten will. Eine höhere Wertung verpasst der Titel, weil die PC-Umsetzung an einigen Stellen kränkelt und die Steuerung mich teilweise so in Rage bringt, dass ich kleine Kinder fressen will.

It may be coming onto PC a year after the Xbox version, and it may be a bit kiddie and repetitive at times. However it is still great fun provides a great breath of fresh air to the gaming scene and is well worth a play especially if you can find it for a good price around £20 / $39USD.

Er zitten tonnen charme en persoonlijkheid in Viva Piñata , en het is toegankelijk genoeg voor een breed pallet aan (jonge) spelers, en toch diepgaand genoeg voor meer ervaren spelers.

Unglaublich, wie viel Zeit ich schon in dieses simple Programm gesteckt habe! Viva Piñata erzeugt dieselbe Suchtspirale wie ein Online-Rollenspiel: Schnell noch einen Baum aufpäppeln, die beiden Neuankömmlinge verkuppeln, die Erzeugnisse zum Händler bringen, diesen komischen Samen einpflanzen - schwups, schon ist es zwei Uhr morgens. Freunde und Kollegen lachen mich schon aus! Aber Viva Piñata ist nun mal so putzig, dass ich sogar über die entsetzliche Steuerung hinwegsehe. Zumindest manchmal. Bei jedem anderen Spiel hätte ich schon längst meinen PC zerdeppert, um zu schauen, ob da auch Bonbons rausfallen.

While Viva Pinata does have a few thorns, including its reliance on Live, something always kept me coming back in order to see what else might come slithering, running, lumbering or flying out from the brush. It's a nice distraction from the usual war-torn battlefield or in fighting the occasional apocalypse; instead of being asked to act as a deified troubleshooter, you can practice the Zen in trying to raise pinatas in a virtual garden. It might not be as grandiose a job other things that sim fans may have had experience with, but it's a unique change of pace that they may want to try out.

ויוה פינייטה הוא משחק שנהנה מערכי הפקה גבוהים ומגיעה מחברת פיתוח מוערכת, אך סובל מקהל יעד שלפחות בארץ, כנראה שלא קיים. אם אתם חובבי משחקי ניהול שלא ממש איכפת להם מעלילה ומשליטה לא אופטימאלית – סיכוי סביר שתעשו חיים בשמירה על הפנייטות שלכם, כי בסה"כ המשחק מאתגר ולא פשטני. כל השאר מוזמנים, ברוח ימי הפסח הקרבים, ללכת ולנסות לסדר את החדר שלהם. גם זה משחק ניהול לא פשוט.

A poor interface might not be a big deal to some people, but if a game is frustrating to play because of the controls and they can't be changed, then it makes the game a lot less fun. This is the Achilles’ heel of Viva Piñata, and it makes the PC version of the game a poorly ported afterthought. Apparently it is too much to ask for an improved interface that takes advantage of the PC’s superiority as a platform. The game does offer a lot of content through improving your garden and unlocking new piñatas, so people who like this genre will be kept quite busy for a while. However, the potential of the game is hindered by some questionable design decisions and lack of multiplayer options. Frankly, I’m getting tired of half-assed ports when there is clearly room for improvement in the interface. PC games are not controlled in the same fashion as console games and you don’t need to enlarge all of the text so we can see it from a foot away.

Difficile de retranscrire l'atmosphère bucolique et envoûtante d'un jeu aussi original que Viva Pinata. Destiné aux rêveurs, aux fans de Harvest Moon, ou simplement aux joueurs en quête d'une expérience nouvelle, ce soft magique est un véritable ovni. Avec leur design coloré, ces Pinatas qui en ont fait craquer plus d'un sur Xbox 360 sont toujours aussi adorables sur PC mais attention : d'une part, une connexion Internet est indispensable pour en profiter et d'autre part, des bugs majeurs dûs au Windows Live peuvent vous empêcher de jouer. Il serait donc plus prudent de vous renseigner auprès de Microsoft sur les compatibilités de votre système avant d'acheter ce titre. La note générale a été hélas abaissée de 3 points pour sanctionner les problèmes techniques graves que nous avons rencontrés.
