Inspiration
Empire of the Ants is based on the book of the same name by Bernard Werber. The original French title of Bernard Werber's book was simply Les Fourmis (The Ants). Empire of the Ants has been inserted for the English translation, probably because of the notable 1905 novel short story by H.G. Wells dealing with intelligent ants who are devouring the South American continent.
