All of this amounts to a game that could be great, but is brought down to average by annoying flaws that should have been fixed. Someone needs to remind the developer about that whole "great power, great responsibility" thing. But it is Spider-Man, most of the time it's a lot of fun, and it will make your teenager happy.

In the end, "Spider-man 3" for the Xbox 360 is ultimately a good game. Though some camera issues and control tweaks do hamper the game from being a truly amazing title. On the other hand, the addition of the action sequences and wide range of activities is a welcome sight to the Spider-man franchise. If only the small control issues could be resolved then this would be a great new direction for the Spider-man franchise to be heading. Through all this, the Spider-man game franchise has established itself as one of the few, if not only, movie tie-ins to achieve such high critical praise and commercial success. Hopefully more movie tie-in games look to the 'Spider-man game' series for inspiration and instill part of it into their own as a means to try and reach Spider-manâs level of quality.

I think the movie tries to have everything in it â yâknow, action, romance, comedyâŠ.and the GAME is the same thing. There are sandbox elements, as well as puzzles, stealth missions, races, and LOTS of beat-em-up. Lots of voice acting from Toby Maguire is good, and movie-goers that were disappointed in the lack of Venom will get another crack at him here. Iâm giving it 7/10,

Spiderman 3 is a quality game that is probably too much of a fun thing. It hasn't really changed since the first game, despite the next generation consoles power, and that ultimately is the biggest disappointment. Those who haven't played 1 and 2 will find a top game, but those who have will be wondering just where the innovation has gone.

By and large Spider-Man 3 is a competent game, and we dare say that younger, more casual players will probably lap it up. Yet for us, it just smacks of lazy design, and itâs a real shame that the huge city, great web slinging mechanics and fun combat are let down by a lack of compelling mission-based gameplay. In short, the bulk of the gameplay just isnât that much fun and often crosses over into frustration. In many ways Spider-Man 3 is a lot like the film itâs based around â a melting pot of characters, action and set pieces that sounds good on paper, but fails to come together in a satisfying way. This is a gaming dish that has all the ingredients for a feast of sights and sounds, but in the end, it just tastes like vanilla.

Spider-Man 3 is very much a game of two halves, the conventional game elements with their inherent problems actually get in the way of the fun you can have just 'being' Spider-Man. With its well balanced and intuitive control scheme you'll have far more fun swinging through the vast city hunting out tokens, taking part in time trials, snapping photos and simply sightseeing than you will performing your crime fighting tasks where the far clunkier button bashing combat and quick time set pieces let the whole thing down. With each game Treyarch are edging further down the road towards creating the perfect Spider-Man game, if they can just smooth out the combat and rethink the dull boss battles they'll stand every chance of reaching that target next time. As it is there are still hours of fun to be had in Spider-Man 3, just not perhaps where the developers expected you to find it.

In the end, Spider-Man 3 has its moments. Swinging through New York is as fun as it's ever been, and some of the new contextual action sequences are pretty cool. But for everything Spider-Man 3 does well, it does something else poorly. The camera and presentation issues, as well as the clumsy combat, all conspire to drag the experience down significantly. Spider-Man 3 isn't without merit, but unless you're one of those diehard Spider-Man fans that can't get enough of the swinging superhero, there's probably not enough to Spider-Man 3 to make it worth your time.

For the next (inevitable) Spider-Man game, Iâd suggest Activision tap the talents of some of the writers of the comic book to pen a story â or hell, even adapt one of Spideyâs more classic comic stories â and use that as a basis for a game. In the comics, New York and surrounding areas is the home of some of the most recognizable superheroes including Dr. Strange, The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, and the X-Men so why not do something with that rich source? Ultimate Spider-Man acknowledged this, why canât it be done with a ârealisticâ world and a richer environment? The main components of the Spider-Man 3 â the fighting, the webslinging in a wide-open environment, lots of villains â are spot on but most everything else just feels somewhat incomplete or at least unpolished, particularly the story.

Itâs hard not to be negative after playing Spider-Man 3, this is partly because I loved the other Spider-Man games and this new version feels like its reversing the progress Treyarch has made. If this was the first Spider-Man game from Treyarch all this review might have gone a little better, but itâs simply not. Spider-Man 3 is part fun, part frustration, and part boring. Spider-Man die hard fans will still be able to find some fun within this game, after all it is Spider-Man. Casual fans you might want to rent an older version I suggest Spider-Man 2: SE or Ultimate Spiderman while we all wait for the next Spider-Man game to be spun.

Overall I am left somewhat disappointed with this instalment of the franchise. On the surface itâs a great rental but I cannot recommend the purchase of this title to any mature gamer out there may who enjoy this style of gameplay. The game ultimately comes across as unfinished and unfortunately gets thrown into that large group of movie based games that have failed to live up to gamers expectations.

Because the game applies to everyone, it will only half please everyone. In an effort to make it a family game, they made it a little too simple. However they did fit a LOT into the game, so at under 20 hours, youâll feel like you got your moneyâs worth. Lots of polish, but just a bit lacking in the fun factor. 6.5/10 from me.

Spider-Man 3 is â not unlike its cinematic counterpart â a huge disappointment. Itâs not a complete loss, and many gamers â particularly Spider-Man fans will probably enjoy the game enough to merit the $60 asking price. Those without a huge attachment to the character would be better off spending the money on some trade-paper backs of the comic.

In the end I would only suggest this game to real Spider-Man fans. Other gamers get a game with average gameplay, a couple of fun moments (like the webslinging through the city), a disappointing story and an underachieving presentation. Not really worth spending your hard-earned money on.

There are only 42 missions in the game with only a handful of side quests. I personally finished all the main quests in about 12 hours and most of the side quests in 3 more hours. While the game can be played again as Black Spider-Man for some butt stomping fun, there really is not too much here. This is an easy game that won't keep you busy for long, almost like Spider-Man 2: Special Edition. If you really need a Spidey fix, go out and find Spider-Man 2 or even Ultimate Spider-Man. They are better games that will keep you occupied longer. Spider-Man 3 is really only worth a rental, but definitely not worth it's $60 price tag.

Despite all the criticisms I have made the game is quite playable. It will offer most gamers a distraction for a weekend. If you are looking for a more enjoyable super hero experience then I would definitely recommend Crackdown as it is superior in every way, plus after the HALO 3 beta finishes youâll be able to get a 2nd hand copy very cheap.

Does this make up for the maddening camera and homeliness of the rest of the game? Almost, or maybe just barely; it really depends on how invested you are in the series. Fans of Spider-Man 2 will likely feel pangs of discontent over the new problems, yet celebrate the inclusion of the new features. Meanwhile, people who couldn't care less about Spider-Man's past games may still find this one enjoyable, but don't say I didn't warn you when you get that urge to put your controller through your brand-new HDTV.

If you're desperate for a Spider-Man game, this one fills your need for webs, but other than nailing what web-swinging should feel like, this game is a bust. We were promised a Spidey experience that was next-gen and expanded on everything Spider-Man 2 did right, but we were given a buggy game that's just Spider-Man 2: Special Edition. Combat is brainless button-mashing, the bosses are frustrating and cheap, the visuals are far from spectacular, and although the random crimes aren't the same events over and over, they definitely reuse the same ideas.

Unfortunately, this once-entertaining franchise has lost its luster and become a tedious chore of an experience. There are just too many aspects of the game that clearly needed more time in development. If it didnât have to coincide with the release of the film, I feel they probably would have pushed the release back a bit until these things are ironed out. This sadly isnât the case, and weâre left with a game that barely warrants a rental.

But these contrasting feelings of thrilling excitement are nearly always compounded by rank disappointment elsewhere. If only Treyarch had polished the game properly, we could have been reflecting on one of the best superhero games ever - and if you were to cut together a movie of the best bits you'd almost certainly want to buy it on the strength of that. As it stands, the total lack of consistency in what the game offers in terms of entertainment gives it the whiff of a game produced under pressure, and one developed around an unrealistic deadline so it could come out day and date with the movie. Whatever the truth of the situation of Spider-Man 3, here we are, yet again, complaining ruefully about 'missed opportunities', 'a lack of consistency' and 'unfulfilled potential'. For something as thrilling yet as disappointing as this, perhaps a rental's the smartest plan.

As a major-league Spider-Man fan that has stuck by this character for a quarter-century (yeah, Iâm old), this game was a sad kick in the spinnerets. While I applaud Treyarch for ramping things up in terms of giving us more missions and more gameplay options, the core gameplay is nowhere near as polished as its previous-gen predecessor, and saying that about any game is certifiably damning. I severely wanted to like this game, and itâs sad that, like the previous movie and things going on in the Spider-Man comics, the developer of the Spider-Man 3 game seem to be doing everything they can to make me want to walk away from this character for good.

The biggest disappointment with Spider-Man 3 is in the way it settles for âgood enoughâ. What had the potential to be a truly awesome game, instead turned out mediocre. It's certainly possible that Spider-Man 3 just suffers from a deadline to release in time for the movie since the majority of issues plaguing the game seem as though they could have been corrected given the right amount of time to do so. Although most gamers should find that reaching 100% completion of Spider-Man 3, including the games 43 Achievement, will keep them busy for a while, it comes at a cost of being able to ignore the gameâs shortcomings. Of course, Spider-Man 3âs lack of Xbox Live play really doesnât help much either.

I can only imagine what Uncle Ben would say if he had picked up Spider-Man 3. "You're on next-gen platforms now, Spidey, and you sure as hell don't look it." You know that "PS2 game with shiny characters and lots of bloom lighting" look that plagues PS3 and 360 ports of last-gen titles? It's dripping all over Spider-Man 3. Except it's not a port. Which is almost okay, until it throws in some vicious slowdown whenever you make the mistake of breaking environmental objects.
