MacGamer's Ledge, The (Mac Ledge) (8.3 out of 10) (83%)
Hoyle Classic Games is a very well done card game. Sierra has combined classic games with amusing commentary by animated players to create a fun environment for play. However, unless you really love card games, chances are that you will shortly find this game to be dull. There is no blood, no plot, and no guns. Still, if you are a card junky, I highly recommend Hoyle Classic Games. It has stunning graphics, wonderful sounds and unique computer strategies that act almost as erratically as a real human player.

The fact that only one human can play against multiple computer-controlled characters is somewhat disheartening and seems to contradict the promising box blurb that stresses family enjoyment. However, the game might be a good way for parents to introduce their children to the card games by cooperatively helping them play their cards and learn how to bid where required. If you've played other titles in the Hoyle series such as Hoyle Board Games or Hoyle Card Games, you'll likely find Hoyle Classic Games a welcome addition to your collection, although some duplication is inevitable.
