When the game is played for the first time the player is prompted for basic setup information. This is the UK release but other European languages are still available.

The game's menu options are displayed as hieroglyphs which change to readable text when selected. Option two is the Save Game option

As the more critical game options are dealt with by the first screen there are not many in-game options to tweak.

When the player starts a new game a short video sequence containing scenes from the film is played to establish the storyline. This guy was a baddie before he became a mummy

The start of the first level. Training text is enabled here so the game pauses whenever a new action key is to be used.

The game begins here. The player has three lives and has collected none of the required items. Collecting all items results on a perfect round, multiple perfect rounds unlock bonus content

The weapon selection screen is keyboard activated and controlled. The torch doubles as a light source, necessary to activate 'Panels of Ra' and as a club.

Bad guys don't hand around long. Here a grave robber has been defeated and he immediately disappears in a flash of light

The Space Bar is used to activate mechanisms. This is the first one in the game so the training text gives a warning. Later in the game the player must find these for themselves

Smashing jars like this and similar objects can reveal hidden items or traps.

In addition to the torch/club the player can use pistols, magic amulets, shotgun, dynamite and a Lewis gun

Finding one of these things gives the player an extra life

Naturally there are mummies to be defeated. This is the basic slave mummy. Later on there are tougher foes such as archer and spear-men mummies in addition to the boss characters

Hitting ESC gives access to this menu. The game saves at certain points automatically as the player progresses but by Quitting the player gets to save their game permanently

The Save Game menu is accessed via Option two on the main menu
