PGR, wie der Kenner die Rennspielreihe Project Gotham Racing abkürzt, ist immer wieder eine Bank. Knapp 100 Autos und aufgepasst: Mehr als 20 Motorräder warten in Teil 4 auf Sie. Wie schon die Vorgänger ist PGR 4 keine Simulation, sondern ermuntert Sie während der Rennen, ordentlich um Kurven zu schlittern und mit Gaspedal und Handbremse zu lenken. Bis auf zwei Rennpisten brettern Sie durch Großstädte wie London, New York, Las Vegas oder Tokio. Sogar unerwartete Wetteränderungen sind mit von der Partie. Ein geniales Rennspiel, das vermutlich erst das nächste Burnout wieder vom Bleifuß-Thron stoßen kann.

WOW, wow und noch mal wow! Project Gotham Racing 4 hat nicht nur uns, sondern auch hartgesottene Fans aus den Rennfahrerlatschen gehauen. Eine unglaubliche Grafik, eine extreme Rennatmosphäre, ein unerreichtes Spielgefühl, ein Umfang und Spielspaß der seines gleichen sucht, ein perfekter Xbox-Live Modus und vieles mehr hieven diesen Titel an die Spitze der Rennspiele und machen diesen Titel zum MUST-BUY Titel für die Xbox 360. Wer Rennspiele mag, muss zu Project Gotham Racing 4 greifen und wird noch lange Zeit kein besseres Spiel finden.

The cars follow this same mantra; they feel realistic to a degree, but they also feel fast and you can throw them into a corner without too much worrying, which is the thing that ultimately wears me down in racing "simulators". This is the best racing game I've played this year, hands down.

Overall PGR4 is a solid package with enough content to keep you entertained for a long time. Getting that all-gold achievement in Arcade is going to take some time and the career mode can go on for a good while, especially if you chase all those invitationals. Of course there is loads of time to be dealt with by the online modes and if you are particularly obsessed you can chase after the Gamerpic reward in the PGR Shop, yours for only one million kudos. PGR is also the kind of game you can drop into for a quick thirty minute blast, maybe as you wait for the missus to get ready for a night out. And I haven't even mentioned the stellar Geometry Wars: Waves, which takes the winning formula and cranks it up to 11. This little arcade shooter is worth a decent amount of cash on its own, so its inclusion in the package only makes PGR4 that much more attractive. Oh. And there are motorbikes in it too. They bump the score up an extra few percentage points.

Bizarre Creations have created a true masterpiece in Project Gotham Racing 4. The visuals and weather effects are incredible, as well as the variety of gameplay this provides. The game has had a complete makeover since Project Gotham Racing 3, with many more tracks and cars added which will help to keep you a happy gamer for many hours to come. Throw in some well-executed online functionality through Xbox Live, and you have yourself one of the best racing games available on the platform.

Klar – PGR4 erfindet das Rennspielgenre sicher nicht neu. Dennoch hatte ich bei meinen Runden über die abwechslungsreichen Kurse des Spieles stets einen rießen Spaß und war jedes mal wieder fasziniert, wenn der einsetzende Regen langsam die Szenerie verändert und diese wunderschönen Tropfeneffekte auf die Windschutzscheibe (die Cockpitansicht ist bei einem Unwetter ein echtes Erlebnis) und die Karosserie zaubert. Auch die Fahrzeugauswahl konnte mich als alten Autonarren einigermaßen überzeugen und weckte regelmäßig den Ansporn in mir, doch noch 2 Rennen zu fahren, um so vielleicht endlich das ersehnte Car-Pack mit meiner über alles geliebten Lotus Elise kaufen zu können – nur als Beispiel. Auch der Multiplayer-Part ist den Entwicklern gut gelungen und verspricht stundenlange Online-Rennaction. Schlusswort somit: Rennspielfans mit einer 360 müssen dieses Spiel einfach haben!

Weighed against the whole, however, it and the game's other minor flaws are forgivable. Freed from the pressures of developing to match a hardware launch, and perhaps steered by the Forza team's strength in simulation, PGR4 wrings the best yet out of an already scintillating arcade racing game. As a swansong for Activision-bound Bizarre Creations, it's more than we could have wished for, and a daunting prospect for whichever developer Microsoft asks to follow it.

So for all of this good, is PGR4 a better game? It hasn't changed too much, but it has expanded on what made its predecessor so successful. This is arguably one of the best and most involving racers ever built, and its immense attention to detail will constantly take you by surprise. The new career layout is a vast improvement from PGR3's millisecond shaving nature, and the addition of bikes has really spiced things up. Not only is this one of the best looking racing games out there, but it is one of the best games out there. As arcade racers go, this comes hugely recommended, and is a game no racing fan can do without. Apparently the idea mill is already churning for PGR5, but topping this game is going to be Bizarre's greatest challenge yet.

Dokładnie na to czekałem i jestem zadowolony. A na dodatek pewny, że i Wy będziecie. Jeśli jara Was Project Gotham Racing, to sięgajcie bez zastanowienia. Ci natomiast z Was, którzy nie są pewni tej serii... Powiem tak. Macie ochotę na miodotrysk arcade'u z mocną domieszką wymagającej symulacji? Walcie śmiało :). PGR jest ciągle w formie.

"PGR4" is without a doubt, 2007's best racing game. The improved graphics, the majestic weather effects, vastly improved handling and a robust multiplayer mode are a great start. But the restructuring of the career mode not only adds length and depth to the game, but most significantly, makes it far more fun than any other game in the series. There is also more variety, which is the real kicker, as this is where it blows away the more serious, and also excellent, but RPG-like Forza 2 away, because it never feels like a grind getting to rank 1, unlike in the former game. "Project Gotham Racing 4" is a superb game, and a must-have for any 360 owner. A fitting end to the series.

"Project Gotham Racing 4" segue a linha dos antecessores, mantendo a mecânica de pontuação que consagrou a série. Ainda que lembre bastante a versão anterior (mesmo porque ele recicla boa parte de "PGR 3"), as novidades, como o sistema dinâmico de clima e a possibilidade de correr sobre duas rodas dão o gás que a série necessitava. Trata-se de um jogo extenso, desafiante, que abusa ao máximo da alta-definição, com seu visual e estilo incomparáveis.

That's really all the complaints we have. An excellent online mode (as always) is the icing on an almost perfect cake. Bizarre have even had the decency to include a brand new version of Geometry Wars, subtitled Waves, to keep people amused. With PGR4 the series may have reached its peak and it's going to be interesting to see how Bizarre Creations try and top it.

PGR4 è da sempre sinonimo di Velocità, Guida Arcade e Spettacolarità. Tanto abbiamo atteso questo episodio, dopo l'esordio next gen del terzo capitolo, ebbene l'attesa non è stata vana. Con tonnellate di circuiti e di auto, un'interfaccia grafica dei menu stilosa e ingame brillante, con una colonna sonora di tutto rispetto e l'immancabile turbine di Kudos, PGR ancora una volta segna una netta linea di confine tra tanti diversi "giochini" che tentano di infastidirlo in un modo o nell'altro. Se non fosse così dannatamente Arcade, sarebbe l'unico gioco di guida da avere in casa. Se non fosse così dannatamente Arcade, non sarebbe PGR. Il canto del cigno di Bizzarre Creations ci lascia un prodotto impressionante di elevata qualità, senza troppi sollazzi. Un acquisto obbligatorio, così come è obbligatorio farci nottata a causa della carrirera succhia-giocatore.

Wahnsinn! Groß waren die Erwartungen an PGR4 und abgesehen vom miserablen Schadenssystem, wurden diese auch nicht enttäuscht. Nicht nur die allseits beliebten Städtekurse sind wieder mit von der Partie, auch wer mal auf dem Nürburgring sein Glück versuchen möchte, kommt auf seine Kosten. Intelligentere Gegner, ein wirklich gewaltiger Fuhrpark (mehr als 130 Stück) und 200 Rennstrecken in 10 Metropolen sorgen dafür, dass es wirklich lange dauert, bis ein Spieler von sich behaupten kann, wirklich alles gesehen zu haben. So, und auch wenn mich jetzt einige für bekloppt halten, mein Austin Mini Cooper S 1964 wartet darauf, sich zu behaupten… ich muss weg.

Pelistä jää suuhun hieman outo maku. Tavallaan Project Gotham Racing 4 on niin hyvä kuin kaahailupeli voi olla, mutta toisaalta se ei ole mitään sen enempää. Mikään osa-alue pelissä ei räjäytä tajuntaa, jos nyt ei käy häiritsemäänkään. Kunnollisen vauriomallinnuksen puute ja yökilpailujen pilaaminen huonoilla ajovaloilla syövät pisteitä. Pelin autokanta on kattava, muttei erityisen jännittävä. Lähes kaikki plussat tulevatkin mahtavasta ajettavuudesta ja upeasta ulkoasusta. Gothamin kisat viihdyttävät varmasti aloittelijoita siinä missä kokeneempiakin virtuaalikuskeja. Moninpelissä hauskuus yltyy riemuksi, kunhan kaikilla pelaajilla on herrasmiesurheilun tavat hallussaan.

PGR 4 erfindet das so wohlbekannte Rad nicht neu und lässt auch grundlegende Neuerungen und Verbesserungen im Vergleich zum direkten Vorgänger vermissen. Allerdings macht es auch im neuesten Teil der Rennspielserie einen Heidenspaß über die zahlreichen toll modellierten Strecken zu rasen und die PS-starken Boliden in seinen Fuhrpark aufzunehmen. Der Zusatz von Motorrädern und zahlreiche das Fahrverhalten beeinflussende Wettereffekte sorgen darüber hinaus für gelungene Abwechslung. Man merkt dem Spiel deutlich an, dass es unter geringerem Zeitdruck entstehen konnte. Letztendlich kommen Rennspielfreunde und Nicht-Besitzer von PGR 3 nicht an PGR 4 vorbei.

Trotz alter Fehler und wenigen Neuerungen schafft es PGR 4, seinen Vorgänger zu überholen. Vor allem der Zuwachs an weiteren Städten wird neben den Zweirädern, dem sehenswerten Wettersystem, PGR-Shop und dem neuen Karrieremodus dafür sorgen, dass ihr deutlich mehr Zeit mit dem jüngsten Zuwachs in der Serie verbringt. Und an dem traumhaften Fahrgefühl gibt es sowieso nichts auszusetzen! Genau wie seine Vorgänger bis hin zu MSR gehört auch PGR 4 in jede Rennspielsammlung!

I'd love to see a car damage system of some kind implemented, larger field sizes and an online component that is more than adequate (in contrast, Forza 2's car auction system is a glimpse into the future), but Project Gotham Racing 4 has blown it's own doors off and finally grown from being a bite-sized, almost niche racer into a full-fledged experience that all racing fanatics should enjoy.

Evolution statt Revolution. Für sich allein betrachtet ist Project Gotham Racing 4 sicherlich derzeit systemübergreifend das beste Rennspiel. Einen derart umfangreichen Fahrzeugpark und eine so große Streckenauswahl bietet kein Gran Turismo, Forza oder Need for Speed. Zudem spricht mich das Heizen durch die Metropolen viel mehr an, als die Rennen auf abgelegenen Formel 1-Kursen vom Reißbrett. Allerdings halten sich die Änderungen und Verbesserungen gegenüber dem nicht mal zwei Jahre alten Vorgänger arg in Grenzen, so dass Gelegenheitsrennfahrer mit dem günstigeren Vorgänger fast ebenso gut bedient sind. Rennprofis holen sich PGR 4 allein schon aufgrund des coolen Wettersystems und den interessanten Motorrädern.

Fani serii grając w PGR4 poczują się jak w domu, ponieważ gros rozwiązań zastosowanych w wydanej jako tytuł startowy na X360 poprzedniczce pozostało bez zmian. Twórcy nie spoczęli jednak na laurach i wprowadzili do gry nieco urozmaiceń, które nadają nowego posmaku rozgrywce. Wśród nich z od razu rzucają się w oczy dwie nowości – doskonale wykonane zmienne warunki pogodowe oraz rewolucja w serii – wprowadzenie motorów. Z innych zmian warto wymienić również nową ścieżkę kariery. Jest ona jednym z trybów rozgrywki dla jednego gracza. Pozostałe to tryb Arcade (wybaczcie mi nieścisłość, ale nie mogę się zmusić do pisania „tryb Arkady”, jak to umyślił sobie polski tłumacz) oraz walka z czasem.

As I said at the beginning of this review, all of this is great as long as you actually enjoy the game's mix of arcade and sim racing. If that's not your kind of game, then Project Gotham Racing 4's many gameplay modes and unique features might just pull you in long enough to hook you. It didn't for me, but I can still recognize the appeal of the first person cockpits, dynamic weather, motorcycle-mixing-up, built in arcade shoot-em-up, and further refined Kudos system. Despite my irrational dislike of the racing, I certainly can still see this as a worthy title - even amongst the bigger names out there.

Whether or not you like PGR 4 will depend on whether or not you liked PGR 2 and, to a lesser extent, PGR 3. If the Kudos system is a real turnoff, then don’t waste your time. If you like the point system, then you’ll have a blast working on lines to generate maximum Kudos in a race. With a multitude of game modes, there’s a lot of fun to be had here.

Proto asi ani není potřeba s koupí PGR4 příliš váhat. Pakliže tedy patříte k závodně pozitivním, rozhodně nebudete litovat. Jedná se o velmi příjemné a zábavné závodění, které je navíc umocněno velmi bohatou nabídkou nejrůznějších multiplayerových módů. Jízdní model je vzhledem k záměru hry zcela v pořádku, snad jen škoda, že lze vcelku beztrestně bourat do soupeřů, což je záležitost, která dokáže víceméně jakýkoliv multiplayerový dýchánek velmi kvalitně zkazit, stačí aby se mezi hráči v závodě našla jedna jediná „guma“. Osobně mi trochu vadil možná až přílišný důraz na Kudos, ale jedná se holt o značkovou feature série, tak se nedá nic dělat. Nehledě na to, že jsem si hraní i přesto užil zcela královsky, jelikož PGR4 je zcela jednoznačně nejlepším dílem celé série.

Project Gotham Racing 4 is a solid note for Bizarre Creations to send off with. The Project Gotham series has grown over the years into one of the most solid racing games available. The new features which include motorcycles, dynamic weather, and a redesigned season mode give gamers a good enough reason to upgrade from PGR3. PGR4 is one of the best well rounded online, offline arcade based racing game you can get at the moment. Filled with value, longevity, excellent graphics and new features, you won’t be disappointed with PGR4.

Nothing is deeply wrong with Project Gotham Racing 4. It's a solid addition to the excellent franchise, adding a diverse selection of cars, new tracks, and the big marketing points of motorcycles and weather cycles. But substantial changes are what the series needs to really glow again, and they just aren't here. Bizarre Creations "phoning it in" is still better than a lot of developers' best, but if Bizarre Creations has something truly innovative up its sleeve, it seems it's saving it for its next title for its new publisher, Activision.

PGR4 is the game that PGR3 wished it could be. With time to refine the details, Bizarre has made the dream racer for gamers. An improved Career Mode makes playing alone a thing of joy. And while it’s beat over your head, the weather effect is incorporated into gameplay instead of being a simple checkbox on the back of the packaging. Overall, this is the most satisfying racer out this year, even if it has some imperfections.

All in all, PGR4 is enjoyable enough that it warrants a look but it just doesn’t play to its strengths well enough to stand toe-to-toe with the current champions of the racing world.

Versprochen hatte Microsoft eine nochmals verbesserte Grafik, mehr Strecken, mehr Sportvehikel, mehr Spielmodi und einen völlig neuen Karrieremodus. Teilweise wurden die Versprechen eingelöst. Doch das Spiel wirkt überfrachtet. Optisch durchaus begeisternd, krankt die Raserei an teils völlig überzogenen Geschicklichkeitstests, die mit adrenalintreibenden Autorennen nichts mehr zu tun haben.

In general, the handling in this game is extremely difficult. You'll use your normal brake and hand brake extensively - and sometimes even both at once! It doesn't help that the tracks are exceptionally narrow. There's a lot of loading in PGR4, and the eclectic music selection ranges from weak to irritating. Project Gotham Racing 4 is a lot of game for the money, but it really could use an injection of excitement.
