Not a lot else to say, really. The game plays well, and I enjoyed it from start to finish. On top of collecting all the emeralds and such, thereâs also a lot of bonus missions you can go through if you want more of a challenge (as playing through the main story is fairly easy). This game really gets a lot of bang for its buckâprobably more than any other 2D Sonic game Iâve played through at least. Definitely look into adding it to your DS collection if you like platformers at all.

At first glance, Sonic against robot pirates seems like a strange concept. Once tried however, players will understand that the story works because it's built on the solid foundation of Sonic's roots in speed-based gameplay. New and old interwoven, Sonic Rush Adventure is a shining example of what a sequel can and should be.

It's great to see Dimps and Sonic Team really hit the bull's-eye. The classic Sonic games stand among the best 2D platformers ever, and it's been difficult to see the franchise lose much of its former glory. Luckily, Sonic Rush Adventure delivers a game that will have some real staying power for hardcore fans, and will at least keep the more casual players amused for a few hours longer than usual.

Overall, Sonic Rush Adventure takes everything from Sonic Rush, fixes some stuff then adds a ton of extra stuff, increasing the lifespan and replayability by quite a large amount. The new features are fun, and the missions are enjoyable and challenging. This is easily the best Sonic game since the Mega Drive days.

The main side-scrolling stages have been refined and freed of almost all unfair pits of doom/spiked opponents, making for a much smoother experience all in all. The additional sailing/adventure elements might not be to everyoneâs liking, but if you can bear to be dragged away from âclassicâ Sonic for just a moment youâll find some perfectly designed mini-games that help to keep things varied and interesting. Chuck in a whole host of extra/unlockable content and youâve got an extremely complete gaming experience that most people, not only die-hard 'hog fans, should be able to enjoy.

Like a gift that never stops giving, Sonic Rush Adventure is chock-full of content that never gets dull. The imagination and character poured into every inch of the game world must be applauded. Sonic has found a new home on the DS and until Sega can solve the puzzle of successfully transporting the series over into the third dimension, the Rush series provides more than enough quality gaming to excuse any recent misfires that the Sonic series may produce. Say this to a Sega fanboy back in 1991 and you would be greeted with ridicule, but say it now and all fits quite nicely, because this title fits perfectly in the Nintendo canon and will hopefully spawn more worthy sequels in the future. Kudos Sonic Team, you've finally nailed it!

No, Sonic Rush Adventure doesn't do very much that's new. What it does do, however, is keep all of the things that were good about Sonic Rush â pacing, a sense of speed and pleasant graphics and sound â without any of the frustration. It's far from a perfect package, but whether you're a veteran who remembers the series' heyday back on the Sega Genesis or a newbie looking to dip your feet into the series, you won't be disappointed with Sonic Rush Adventure.

Overall, Sonic Rush Adventure retains much of the charm of its predecessor, while adding its own elements to the game. These changes may deter from the breakneck pace of the original, but I personally think they add a nice additional layer to the gameplay that doesnât feel like the filler commonly associated with most of the recent Sonic games. Of course, thatâs just my opinion, but if you enjoyed Rush, at least try out Sonic Rush Adventure. Who knows? You just might like it. I know I did.

Overall, I thought this game was an excellent representation of a series that has a sacred place in the heart of many a gamer. I, for one, was glad to play this game and experience the vintage gameplay that made the original Sonic games popular all those years ago. And with the new online modes, the experience was heightened that much more.

Overall, Sonic Rush Adventure is full of fun, fast-paced levels. The main mode of the game is a little short, and some poor game structure choices dampen the playability a bit, but that doesnât erase the fact that the game includes some of the best platforming experiences available. The gameâs seamless merging of 2-D and 3-D is commendable, and the additional game modes are fully fleshed-out.

The sheer size of this game is impressive, as well as the usual 2D scrolling levels on the main islands, there are 3D boss battles and plenty of hidden islands and races on the open sea to find. Sonic Rush is a very impressive game and one that I would recommend to anyone who owns a DS.

Despite its name and the hideously conceived Marine blighting the cut-scenes, Sonic Rush Adventure is yet another instance of the hedgehog striking high-speed platforming gold on a handheld format. Youâll know enough about the story after reading this to skip all that nonsense now, whichâll improve your experience immensely. Once youâve got to grips with your stylus as Sonic manfully sends plumes of salty white foam splashing over the hot pussy pressed against you, youâll forget the MegaDrive even existed [naughty, naughty â Ed]. For a while, at least.

While Sonic Rush Adventure has some tedious rough edges to it, it's definitely a true blue Sonic experience to be had on the Nintendo DS. It adds some depth to its great level design by incorporating sailing missions that are actually pretty involved and good fun. The combinations of 2D and 3D elements truly make the game unique and its use of the touch screen add a little more flavor to it. It's crazy, but this game may have just put some life back into Sonic because this game is just plain fun and it's even better on the go.

Despite the rather simplistic motions, there's just something about moving like a blur that really satisfies. Sharing the same fulfilment with others only adds to it to its greatness. And all the while, you'll be jamming along to some funky hip-hop beats that lie just below the quality of the first game's soundtrack - if only because there's less nonsensical phrases chucked in, which may be a good thing to some people. I half-expected Sonic Rush Adventure to take a tepid turn for the worst given the last part of its title. I came out feeling relieved that all the things I loved about the first Rush made it through unfazed. If only the combination of "Rush" and "Adventure" had been more complementary rather than supplementary, but for the time being, this is more than adequate.

The extra bells and whistles that Sonic Rush Adventure add to the formula might not equate to much of an overall improvement, and the game might not have as much impact as its predecessor, but this is still a mighty-fine platformer that is guaranteed to satisfy Sonic fans.

Dimps and Sonic Team continue to prove that 2D is the perfect canvas for the Sonic the Hedgehog design. Sonic Rush Adventure is an improved and worthy sequel to Sonic Rush, definitely the game to get if you haven't already made the leap with the original title. It's a lot of great ideas in fun packageâŠbut Sonic Rush Adventure just doesn't hit the market with the same amount of "oomph" as the first game did simply because it recycled a lot from the original title.

Had Sonic Rush Adventure come with a more refreshing game soundtrack and more memorable characters, it would've been a perfect DS game. Regardless, the fact that Sonic's back in fine form, especially after a couple of less-than-favorable console entries, is worth celebrating. Adventure manages to keep the hedgehog's head above water, reminding us that the K.I.S.S. method -- keep it simple, stupid -- still works after all these years.

Had Sonic Rush Adventure gotten some more charm in the character design department and a soundtrack on par with the Sonic CD Japanese song collection, we'd really be getting somewhere as far as this sequel is concerned. Overall, though, it's still a step in the right direction for the 'hog, especially considering where he's been lulling over the past couple of years. Getting back on the right path, even at a dwindled speed, is better than going the opposite way any day of the week. Take a trip on this Adventure, Sonic fans.

It may be a bit repetitious, then, but in contrast to the likes of Mario games, which were always precise harmonies, that's actually something of a boon. Sonic was always jazzier, and one of the criticisms you could level at it was that the older games sometimes did a poor job of harnessing the inherent replayability that really stood them apart from their genre-mates. Rush Adventure comes up with the best way in a while to encourage and capitalise on that, proves less harsh than the first Rush did (the midair dash doing a better job of mitigating against bottomless-pit death), and, apart from a couple of duff watercraft bits, does it all satisfyingly. All in all, a bit of a must-have.

So itâs with a hearty slap on the back that I push Sonic forward once more as a viable option for people who donât enjoy cack games. With his pointy red boots dipped in both his 2D past and a new, better 3D current, the future suddenly doesnât seem to bad after all. Perhaps Sonic Team need to take notice of the success of the side-scrolling handheld games and rework their main console offerings to match, as if they did then weâd be on for something pretty swell indeed.

Sonic Rush Adventure is a game that comes screaming out of the gate and doesn't take its foot off the gas. The high-speed excitement and classic gameplay never once hits a speed bump. Sega fans still clinging to the hope that their favorite blue urchin has a little more nitro in the tank should be suitably impressed by this latest outing. It's definitely worth a look for Sonic fans, new and old alike.

This doesn't ruin the game, but it can be a frustrating, arbitrary stumbling block. Without the compulsory backtracking and exploration requirements, Sonic Rush Adventure is a rather brief and lightweight experience, and one gets the impression that Sonic Team simply added these speed bumps to pad the playtime. It's a shame they didn't have more faith in their creation; the value of a good game has less to do with how long the first playthrough takes than it does with whether or not the experience is worth revisiting later. Sonic Rush Adventure stretches playtime at the expense of replayability.

Sonic Rush Adventure is a quality entry in a series that desperately needs to be reassessed, but intrusive, frequent and annoying story sequences, poorly conceived new characters and an awful lot of repetition keep it from being great. The adventure parts of the game feel a bit undercooked â there should be a bit more depth to these sequences than merely replaying already completed levels to collect materials to move on to the next point. That said, we think that Sonic Rush Adventure is a solid game that should appeal to not just fans of the newer Sonic titles, but those who grew up with the series too.

Sonic Rush Adventure more or less hits all the notes weâve come to expect in a good Sonic game. It stays largely in safe, familiar territory, which is not necessarily a bad thing. This tried and true Sonic formula is miles better than the 3D games. In this rare case, weâre thankful for the lack of innovation.

Sonic Rush Adventure begins with Tails and our blue hero flying a biplane straight into hurricane and waking up on a beach. Yes, there are a lot of silly cutscenes in SRA, a fairly decent sequel to Sonic Rush, but at least you can skip them all and get straight to the mostly 2D stages to collect building materials. Players can use these to create sea faring vessels and play amusing 3D minigames to access new islands. Multiplayer now includes online play, but most people will probably focus on bettering their online time trial rankings.

Sonic Rush Adventure is a bit on the easy side, especially for a Sonic title, but has a decent length. Some might complain that the core Sonic gameplay is reduced to 2 levels and a boss battle, much like the original Genesis titles, and that there should have been at least 3 levels per island to increase the length. The dual screen makes for more impressive level layouts, and rarely interferes with the gameplay.

Worst of all, the "Sonic Team" forgot how to design a fun stage. Each of these massive zones forces you run through the same general sequence of obstacles over and over again! And when you do stumble upon something exciting (like a wild minecart ride), the game totally beats it to death! The "ghost ship" zone sounds intriguing, but these ships look as if they were decorated by Ikea, and they're infested with annoying ghosts latch onto you like leeches! Even SRA's control scheme is convoluted. I mean, do we really need three dash moves?? Sonic Rush Adventure exudes some good old-fashioned Sonic charm, but the game lacks focus because everything is so overblown. Note to designers: Sometimes more is less.

There are other objectives like collecting a certain amount of rings, making a speed run, or finding a hidden item, but the story mode has already made you run through these levels so many times that unless you are a real completionist you've probably already moved on. Next time could just be Sonic Wave Race and I would be fine with that.

(...) The final nail in Sonic Rush Adventure's coffin is the sailing mini-games. While not entirely bad or poorly executed, they destroy the relentless pace that made the original game so exciting, and ultimately feel tacked-on and tiresome. Add to all this the pointless map plotting (surely a failed attempt to jump on the Phantom Hourglass bandwagon) and you have a Sonic game struggling for its own identity. Not something the world's most famous hedgehog should ever need too do.
