Hear Ye Heroes

The Good
Graphics show a whole improved makeover from the previous game. This also goes for the menu screens, that monochrome scheme giving that dark and brooding atmosphere of war. The cutscenes have a serious narrator and several recon photos, a decent change from the traditional Colonel Hargrove. Afterwards the mission briefing gets straight to the point with no lazy writing included.

In the gameplay itself the crosshair is adjustable to make for multiple angles to shoot and lob your grenades, just the way you want it. This applies to firing from your sights. The live grenade indicator serves for a helpful warning to prevent otherwise unexpected deaths. There are a fair number of checkpoints to ease the missions. Objectives have variety in them and are not limited to fetch and destroy quests. Rewards for your efforts are extra content, something every MOH game should have. Lastly the arcade mode is a relaxing break from the campaign mode to sharpen your target practice. Plus the multiplayer modes, it all makes for long lasting entertainment.

The Bad
The gameplay isn't without merit, but it has its little problems. For one the HUD text takes up too much screen space so it's hard to get a clear vision of your surroundings. Sniping is also hard because it's hard to keep the scope in one place and fire accurately before an enemy lands a shot on you first.

Michael Giacchino's soundtrack was not reused to the best it could have. This game deserved brand new exclusive music tracks to go with the samey ambient sounds during the mission just to keep the mood up.

The Bottom Line
This game really isn't anything like its botched up prequel, it seems that a lot of thought and planning went into it. Most players can overlook any historical accuracy in favour of the game telling its own action story. A few compatible peripherals help suit this game for a wider audience in the Theater of MOH. Not the most brilliant among the series, but truly a collector's item with several ways to play it solo or multiplayer.
