Thunderbolt Games (7 out of 10)

But, does that make 7 Wonders any less of a puzzle gaming experience? Sure, it doesn’t take very long to ‘complete’ the game and the lack of any multiplayer - of any kind - is totally inexcusable. Compared to the likes of Puzzle Quest, it may seem like a step back for the sub-genre; this is clearly more of a budget-game and less of a fully fleshed one. Nevertheless, 7 Wonders is a nifty little gaming card of good-old addictive goodness, and a bargain bin must-have if I ever saw one.

Just to be clear, there’s very little that 7 Wonder of the World offers that’s lacking from every other DS puzzle game out there. It’s a Bejeweled clone that isn’t quite as polished or focused as that game. At the same time the idea of the pyramid building, while a little superfluous, is fun and the worker animations are always worth glancing up for. This isn’t the one puzzle game on DS to own, but puzzle addicts looking for one more game could do worse.

Game Chronicles (6.5 out of 10)

A competent rehash of the Bejeweled formula, 7 Wonders of the Ancient World delivers a classic puzzle experience, but it doesn’t stray from the beaten path. If you enjoy Bejeweled and its kin, you’d probably also enjoy 7 Wonders for the same style of gameplay and challenge, as long as you don’t mind the lack of ingenuity or multiplayer modes.

Un jeu de rĂ©flexion trĂšs classique, mais extrĂȘmement agrĂ©able. Et lorsqu'un jeu de ce genre est une rĂ©ussite, il devient difficile de s'en dĂ©crocher !

GameSpot (5 out of 10)

With more inventive Bejeweled-inspired games like Puzzle Quest available for the DS, there's no reason to settle for something like 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. The lack of multiplayer is a serious omission, and what's there just feels like a photocopy of a more inspired game that we've already played.

7 Wonders has an interesting premise, and the tidbits you learn about the seven different wonders are fun to read, however interesting premises and random factoids don’t add up to a great game if the gameplay isn’t there. With so many excellent puzzle games for the DS, it’s hard to recommend picking up this game at full price; serious puzzle heads should leave this one behind with the seven wonders of its namesake—buried in the sands of time.
