If you're an avid player of wargames then this will certainly appeal to you. The action however, is limited due to the time taken up watching the battle.

The game is wholly mouse driven and there is little difference between the ST and Amiga versions, both have very similar graphics and user-interface. If you're an avid war-gamer, you will enjoy partaking of this pleasurable experience.

I have never much patience with war games in the past, but Impressions have made a very accessible strategy game. Utilising the same game system as used on the highly acclaimed Rorke's Drift, Charge of the Light Brigade isn't instantly satisfying. You get out what you put in. And that may take some time.

Looks brilliant and has plenty of instant appeal but falls down as a strategy game. Even so, it bodes well for the future of wargames.

The main thing I wish Impressions would do with their games is change their graphics. Although the sprites aren't exactly the same, they might just as well be. And as for the game itself. Well, I'm afraid that it isn't much cop and there are plenty of other games of this genre around that aren't as expensive.

The graphics are really rather impressive and the icon control system - apart from the appalling viewing scroller - is great, but playing Charge of the Light Brigade just isn't very exciting. With quite a bit more speed and a few more command options, it would have been a great strategy game, but as it stands it's just mediocre.

A very brave try, but it doesn't quite reach the heights to which is aspires.

There are some annoying features, like the rather chaotic scrolling method for viewing the battle. Graphics are nothing special, but overall the game is challenging and addictive. The British held Balaclava against all odds (despite the Light Brigade' folly!), but emulating that feat in this game will require a lot of strategic skill and provide hours of frustrating fun to any wargamer.
