I actually had quite a good time playing SouthPark, both in single player mode, and in multiplay. The game ran quite well, when hosting a game over ISDN, and having 6 people all trying to do each other in with snowballs. Though definitely not the next "quake killer", SouthPark turned out to be a lot of fun. If you like first-person shooters, and even if you aren't into the SouthPark show. The one factor, that kept the game from getting a 100% rating, quite frankly is because they shouldn't have "bleeped" out the !*@[email protected]# language.

Hm, robi się coraz ciekawiej. Ostatnio można zauważyć ogromną liczbę gier, które nawiązują do filmów i seriali telewizyjnych. Niestety czasem zdarza się, że produkty te nawet w połowie nie dorównują wersjom oryginalnym i niestety nie robią większego zamieszania. Na szczęście z SOUTH PARK jest inaczej. szczerze przyznaję, że nie zawiodłem się na tej grze. Jest równie zwariowana jak serial, i to uważam za największą zaletę. Kupujcie! dobra zabawa gwarantowana!

In closing, while the "South Park Official PC Game" has something for every fan of "South Park," it is unlikely to do much for "Unreal" and "Quake" players. Then again, it's hella stupid to even compare the two.

Voor South Park fans is deze game een absoluut hebbedingetje, maar ook die zullen moeten toegeven dat de glans van deze game te snel verbleekt. De gein, de grove woorden en de absoluut knotsgekke wapens zijn zeker in het begin vermakelijk, maar al snel is de lol er een beetje af omdat je voortdurend hetzelfde moet doen.

Für Fans der Serie ist South Park auch als Spiel ein Muß - allein die Tatsache, daß man im Multiplayer-Deathmatch als Kenny gegen Jesus persönlich antreten kann, dürfte hier als Kaufreiz reichen. Alle anderen sollten allerdings Vorsicht walten lassen. Wer den Humor der Trickvorlage nicht kennt oder mag, wird auch schwerlich an dem Spiel gefallen finden, zumal man sich in puncto Gameplay, Grafik und Leveldesign nicht gerade die größte Mühe gegeben hat. In den USA war das Spiel trotzdem wochenlang ein Top-Ten-Hit - aber die fanden da ja auch Deer Hunter gut.

South Park is a very successful game based on the Comedy Central show. It does have some flaws - too linear levels, no weapon carryover between missions, poor save game mechanism, some graphical clipping, etc., but it is very funny and enjoyable to play. If you're a fan of the show, you'll appreciate what was put together in this package. It's true to the show and its brand of offbeat humor. Bottom Line: The look and feel of the game is perfect; it really is a 3D representation of South Park. Levels are a little too linear, and the save game mechanism shows the game's console roots. If you're a fan of the show, you'll appreciate how the show's unique brand of humor shows through.

Alas, multiplayer and cool cutscenes isn't enough to save this game. It's too uninteresting and plays too much as a very mindless shooter. Think of it as a modern day space invaders. You just keep killing enemies over and over and over. If you're a diehard South Park fan, this should give you some giggles for a little while, but even then it's stretching anyone's patience.

Pour le joueur lambda, il faut bien le dire, South Park est un mauvais doom-like, répétitif et linéaire à l'éxcès. Les fans quand à eux trouveront marrant de s'immerger dans l'univers loufoque de la série!

Virtually every character from the series eventually makes an appearance at some point in the game, but unfortunately these cameos add little to the overall gameplay experience and seem little more than window dressing. The multiplayer game makes up for a proportion of this, but not enough to make anyone other than the most die-hard South Park fans to part with their money.

Doch immer nur Schneelandschaften und Brauntöne, das ist auf Dauer ebenso fade wie das hiesige Gamedesign. Die Gegner (re-)agieren eher doof, und daß nur am Levelende der Spielstand gespeichert werden kann, ist auch nicht gerade nett. Wäre da nicht der unterhaltsame Multiplayermodus, wo bis zu acht Teilnehmer unter 20 Charakteren wählen dürfen, könnte man South Park trotz seines Humors, der gelungenen Steuerung und den (englischen) Sprachsamples samt niedlicher Begleitmusik von CD glatt unter „typischer Lizenzschrott‘ ablegen.

Als großer Fan der Serie habe ich dem Testmuster von South Park richtiggehend entgegengefiebert und, um ein Fazit vorwegzunehmen, unter meinen Collectibles nimmt das Spiel auch einen Ehrenplatz ein. Damit hat sich‘s aber auch mit den Verwendungsmöglichkeiten, denn freiwillig werde ich das Ding wohl nicht nochmal anwerfen. Dabei habe ich noch nicht einmal ein Problem mit dem zähen Nebel oder der kruden Grafik, die Atmosphäre des schlicht inszenierten Vorbildes wurde an sich nämlich recht gut eingefangen. Nein, das große Problem von South Park sind die dicken Patzer im Gameplay, schon nach zehn Minuten ermüden die immer gleichen Angriffswellen und die strenge Linearität aufs Äußerste. Acht Kühe, 640 kleine und 23 große Truthähne war die Gegnerbilanz der ersten Episode und auch im weiteren Verlauf ändert sich nichts an der langweilenden Gleichförmigkeit. Das witzige Multiplayer-Deathmatch kann da leider auch nicht mehr viel rausreißen.

Like any game based on a TV show, you'd have to be a fan of the show to appreciate the game. Those fans should find a few hours of mirth in online deathmatching, which works quite well over the Internet with a standard modem connection, but the simplistic design and tedious single-player game will only annoy shooter fans.

Um es comicmäßig auszudrücken: Irgendwie lach, irgendwie gähn. Anfangs verspüren Sie bei der 73. Attacke hirnloser Truthahnrudel einen Drang zum Vegetarismus, weil Sie die Viecher nicht mehr sehen können. An Abwechslung mangelt’s auch später. Das Flair der Serie kommt rüber, spielerisch bleibt’s Magerquark.

In den USA ist die gleichnamige TV-Serie deshalb so populär, weil praktisch jedes Tabu der "Political Correctness" gebrochen wird und die vier Bubis schrecklich ordinär sind. Dieses Konzept funktioniert auch am PC - aber nur für 30 Minuten. Dann kennt man alle Sprüche von Kyle und Co. und sieht hinter der niedlich-sadistischen Grafik den Schmalspur-Shooter hervortreten. Simples Leveldesign mit immer gleichen Gegnern, die in unkoordinierten Scharen angreifen. Für Fans der Anarcho-Serie ist South Park dennoch kaufenswert: Der Geist des Vorbilds leuchtet aus jedem Pixel, und Dumpfbacke Kenny wird auch hier mit brachialer Regelmäßigkeit über den Jordan befördert.

Auch wer die TV-Vorlage schätzt, ist beim „South Park“-Shooter vergrätzt. Am pfuschig ‘runtergehudelten Design der N64-Version (Test in SCREENFUN 3/99) hat sich für PC-Spieler nichts geändert. Höher aufgelöste, aber langweilige und unfaire Massenattacken killen Kenny und die Motivation.

South Park as a video game is fun for all of about three minutes. It isn't fun, isn't funny, misses on all cylinders, and generally just woefully fails to live up to its namesake. I tried, repeatedly, to see what I was missing, and finally came to the realization that this game was nothing more than a quick attempt to get people to buy a lame game because of its association with a much funnier, livelier and more entertaining TV show. Oh my god! They've killed Kenny. And Cartman. And Kyle. And Stan. And all the fun of South Park. You bastards!

Acclaim hat nicht nur Kenny, sondern auch den Spielwitz gekillt. Trotz selbstloser Vorrecherche (Studium zahlreicher TV-Folgen) läßt mich das Programm eiskalt. South Park übertrifft mit seiner ganzen Dahingeschludertheit alle Befürchtungen, die man gemeinhin mit Spielen zu Filmen oder Fernsehserien verbindet. Angesichts des verwanzten Leveldesigns vergeht einem schnell das Lachen: In jedem Level werde ich von chaotischen Riesenrudeln hirnloser Kamikaze-Angreifer genervt. Das Vernichten der langlebigen Spielwelt-Endgegner dauert fast länger als eine TV-Episode; mittendrin speichern darf ich natürlich nicht. Die Technik spendet keinen Trost: Für seine nebelumwölkte Einfachst-3D-Welt braucht South Park peinlich viel Hardware-Power. Chaotisch, aber relativ unterhaltsam sind die wilden Deathmatches, die noch am ehesten dem Seriencharakter entsprechen.

As the big South Park fan in the CGW office, I found the game disappointing. The only people I can see enjoying it are die-hard fans who don’t do much action gaming. so they don’t know what they’re missing. For the rest of us, though, it’s just one more licensing misfire, but with a twist: Instead of a bad game that misuses the license, we just get a bad game that uses the license well. Not even Mr. Hankey can save this game.

The antithesis of innovation, the designers missed the creative potential in the license. Simple graphics, problematic control setup, and mind-numbing, repetitive action add up to little more than a game that passes gas and considers it amusing.

I’m not going to lie, the most fun I had with South Park was when I slapped on some cheat codes and blasted through enemies without thought. I take this as a further suggestion that the PC port’s added difficulty levels were a haphazard afterthought, and “Easy” (or just the N64 original) is the way to play. Even still, this isn’t a game meant to last, and the basic FPS format doesn’t even try to be as funny as the show. Whapping clones with an infinite supply of snowballs to brief, recycled voice clips from the show isn’t something that even fans can embrace. Nothing that made the show worth watching is here.
