Disruptor's a great game with some serious gameplay. Fans of corridor shooters will love it. Beginners may not find themselves up to the challenge at first, but they'll definitely come back for more.

If you see this one cheap, pick it up. I was never a huge fan of the genre until I played this game, and my only gripe with it is that it's a tad on the easy side. Remember the credo of the LightStormers... "Think fast, shoot fast, kick ass!"

Within, you'll find an under-appreciated classic that hits all the right buttons. Violence! Explosions! A cunning dual weapon system! A cleverly-used plot with perfect pacing! But best of all, the ability to stand reasonably unique in the overcrowded First Person Shooter world. And that, in itself, is as big a recommendation as I can give.

Disruptor is a game that any fans of first-person shooters should add to their collection. I was really drawn in by the story line and the super intense gameplay. The different enemies and levels kept me fighting to make it farther just so I could see what was next. These guys did a great job with this game and I hope they make another. This goes to show you that if you have the right people to do a job, the job will get done right.

Disruptor probably won't win any Doom-haters over, but for gamers who like a good shooter, you can't do much better than this.

It's a good buy for those who want more than Doom.

There can be few PlayStation owners who have yet to sample the delights of the 3D, first-person-perspective shoot âem up. The original Doom has been around for the best part of a year and Acclaimâs licensed Alien Trilogy is one of the yearâs more high-profile releases. And yet it seems that softcos cannot slake the gamerâs thirst for this most immersive of sub-genres: the darkened corridor wandering, the gory festival of monster splattering and the sheer exhilaration that comes from the fear of not knowing what is lurking around the next corner.

Disruptor does rise above the call of duty during its cutscenes. Despite the requisite bad acting, the story is amusing and the hero character develops a personality while learning about his new psionic implants. And the mission briefings are the stuff of genius: "You'll be facing organic enemies this time, so hunt down the phase rifle and cook 'em 'till they're well done." In the final analysis, however, Disruptor is little more than a good way to pass the time before Duke Nukem struts his stuff on the Playstation.

All in all though, the whole feel and style of the game seem borrowed, especially the graphics. Certain levels are reminiscent of Dark Forces, while enemies are very unoriginal. Later levels require a little more strategy, as you only use psionic powers, And there is a storyline which does get interesting later on. Unfortunately for Disruptor this genre already has a reigning champion, and its name is Quake.

Epic Sci-Fi Action

The Good
This game is just great! The gameplay is good, the graphics deliver, it sounds great. Let's go into some detail. The game plays like your typical early 90's first-person shooter. You shoot people, solve a few puzzles, collect power-ups, and find the end of the level. It all just works well here. Your weapons all feel good to use, and they are appropriately brutal. The in game models are pretty crisp and smooth. The environments are well rendered, though the draw distance can sometimes come in too close. The story is told through some pretty good live action cutscenes. The acting in these scenes is good, but not great. All of the sound effects made good use of the PlayStation's CD technology. The don't sound fuzzy at all. Like the graphics, they are smooth and crisp.
The Bad
This game doesn't really have that many bad qualities. Sometimes a level is a bit too hard, or long and winding, but you will soon forget about the bad and keep playing and having fun with it.
The Bottom Line
This game is good. Really good. This game is bound to be called a "Doom clone" by some, but at least it's a good one. For being developer Insomniac's first game, it's just damn good. I have nothing but respect for this game.

The Good
The overall fun factor in this one is something that lacks from many games today.
Although the graphics obviously are nothing to celebrate about by today's standards, the game is still fun to play and very magnetic indeed.
The weapons are a plenty and almost all of them come to good use. On top of that, there is also different PSI-powers one can use to annihilate enemies.
Levels are varied and very well designed and textured.
One of the best things in this one is that all the cutscenes are acted by real actors and that is always a plus in my books. If you haven't experienced Disruptor yet, it's about time.
The Bad
Only a few different kinds of enemies.
Props on cutscenes... A wooden warpbeamthing? Come on.
The Bottom Line
If you haven't tried this, it's about time.
