With the new version of Street Fighter perfection on the streets, Capcom and fighter fans alike can't miss out on such a good thing. Super tight gameplay combined with fun characters and an over abundance of smooth, hand drawn animation all leads to the solid Double Impact. While I do think it has come time for Capcom to put their cash cow out to pasture, they have still opened the doors to a grand new fight and scrubs need not apply!

If you've tried out Alpha III, though, or you want to take a stab at some little known Capcom newbie fighters, or you'd like to pretend for a moment that the games industry were as baggage-free as it was back in 1992, then this is your game.

We’re not saying it’s bad
we’re just saying it’s StreetFighter. Again. If you want to get this one, then that’s just your choice!

Despite the new faces, there's little innovation to be found. On the bright side, the backgrounds are pure Capcom: brilliantly colorful, detailed, exotic, and always entertaining. And they even change between rounds. You'll also be glad to know that there's minimal loading time in this game. Technically, there are two versions of SFIII on this disk, but the second one is actually just an extended version of the first.

While a lot of gamers are still dazzled by the shiny objects that are Soul Calibur and Dead or Alive 2, the Street Fighter series continues to offer a depth of play that allows masters of the game to truly be masters. Anyone who considers themselves a fighting game fan should own this title. Anyone who has never played Street Fighter but enjoys Soul Calibur should pick this up and see what a real fighting game is all about.

After so many also-rans and wannabes, the Street Fighter series has come back to full strength. This wees all over the half-arsed PS2 Street Fighter. It's the definite 2D Street Fighter experience for fans of the series and those who can't see what all the fuss is about in 3D. Well 'ard.

One more addition to the Street Fighter library, Street Fighter III: Double Impact is a great game with lots of replayability that I will be working through for a while to come. For fans of the series it is a great addition to your library. For those who have never tried a Street Fighter game, this is a great start to an enjoyable addiction.

(PAL version)
Street Fighter 3 W Impact zieht gegenĂŒber Garou – Mark of the Wolves (siehe Test) ausnahmslos in allen Bereichen den KĂŒrzeren.

Still, Street Fighter 3: Double Impact is more than decent. It doesn't have that rehashed quality that really started to make the whole Street Fighter line a boring, redundant mess. The game feels like a return to what made Street Fighter 2 such a blast back in the day. Of course, this is still the same basic game you've been playing for nearly a decade now.

Even with the constant griping about the lack of change, this is still a memorable game, even if only for it's animation. However, if you've officially grown tired of Street Fighter, there's not package that Capcom could offer that would draw you into this game. The series needs more than just new characters.

Calling Street Fighter III the third game in the Street Fighter series is just plain silly. Let's face it. Between all the Alpha games, all the vs. games, and all the "upgrades" to Street Fighter II, we've seen more games in the past decade bearing the name Street Fighter than we've probably needed to see. The journey to game number three has been on a long hard road. Every time anyone hinted at the possibility of an SF3, it always turned out to be another offshoot of the Street Fighter line. Well, Capcom has finally graced the world with its "third" Street Fighter, as well as two upgrades to the game, Second Impact and Third Strike.

With its graphics enhanced, but still hampered by the 2D environment, this new addition feels and plays very much like the versions that have come before it. The cast of thirteen characters will provide players with plenty of opportunities to try out new tactics and explore the changes to the combat system, which now values skill over brute force. In order to create this emphasis, the super art attacks have been limited in number and weakened in their overall effect while a new skill allows characters to parry incoming blows. Overall, Double Impact is a solid fighting game that exhibits all of the best qualities of the Street Fighter series, but contains none of the graphic or gameplay innovations necessary to really set itself apart from the legions of Street Fighter II offspring.

While it’s true that Street Fighter fans will undoubtedly enjoy Double Impact for its graphics and classic style of dueling, it’s also true that even the most die hard of 2D fighting fans will be hard pressed to buy every fighting game on the market. Given the recent release of two other exceptionally great Capcom fighters, and the impending release of Third Strike later this year, most fans will likely opt to skip Second Impact. If have been a long time fan of the Street Fighter series in all its incarnations than you certainly won’t be disappointed in Second Impact, but the gamers who intend to buy only the occasional fighting game are advised to look at SF Alpha 3, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, or to just wait for a bigger version of Street Fighter 3.
