Shuntaro Tanaka, the game's director, previously worked on SEGA's Skies of Arcadia, which might help explain why Vyse and Aika (the stars of that game) make a cameo on Valkyria Chronicles as two recruitable soldiers for the Gallian Militia. They are classed as a shocktrooper and scout respectively, and their bio briefly states that they hail from a strange country "far from Europa" but otherwise make no mention of their past with the Blue Rogues.
