GameFan Magazine (Dec, 1994)
The showcase Marty game, Scavenger 4, comes to the 3DO in style, bringing with it better color and visual effects, but losing a bit of the screen and the incredible music. Who cares, though...sure, it's an FMW shooter, but it's the best one ever.
GamePro (US) (Apr, 1995)
Although it looks good and sounds all right, Novastorm is no hardcore shooter. You'll see bosses so often that it feels just like a real job. If you could get through StarFox on the SNES, you'll destroy this breezy 'Storm.
Video Games (Mar, 1995)
If you've been dying to play something that doesn't require you to think past your nose and which is the videogame equivalent of a bag of M&M's then Novastorm is the ticket. I hate to think and consequently I enjoyed it immensely.
Iiieee! Haven't I seen this game before? Oh, sorry, Psygnosis jumps on the band wagon again to bring us another mindless shooting game with pretty background graphics. Sound like a few other games? Of course! The video is very clean and nice to look at, but the game itself is nothing special to play and gets repetitive quickly Not my cup of tea, but will appeal to some.

It's hard to tell if you're inflicting any damage on these mechanical beasts until the FMV "death scene" finally kicks in. Before you begin playing Novastorm do yourself a big favor and adjust the number of lives down to 5, because the default of 7 makes for an excruciatingly long game. High scores are recorded automatically along with initials. Novastorm's visuals and soundtrack have easily stood the test of time, but I'm afraid this is largely a case of style over substance.
