Shadow's a pathetic clone of other tournament fighting games. 3DO owners should seek Samurai Shodown and Super SF II for their fix.

Not just a bad fighting game for the 3DO, but a bad fighting game for any system. The animation of the digitized characters is as weak as it gets. Special moves are nest to impossible to execute, although this might be due to that annoying Panasonic 3DO controller problem. The characters had no personality and what little story exists is lifted from some bad cop movie. Do not buy this game under any circumstances, no matter how desperate you are to try out a new fighting game for the 3DO. You can think me later for saving you $60 bucks. (The Videogames staff were not sent a copy of this game for review and I'll bet we know why - it sucks! We went out and bought a copy ourselves - reader beware.)

So I challenge you. I challenge you to put your ultimate skills to the test. Learn the moves, practice against a second player opponent. Become a Shadow Warrior and defeat the mighty slimy monster guy. You up for it? Get back to me when you do, and I will laugh at your worthless existence due to the lack of nothing possibly better to do with your time. Seriously read a book! Get some help! Don't play this game! Yes, it is as [email protected]!#ing bad as I'm telling you!!!

War of Succession contains one visually impressive stage which depicts a digitized New York City skyline at night, but the remaining stages (subway, pier, etc) are remarkably bland. I have to believe that Shadow was given the green light at the height of the 2D fighter craze, and by the time everybody realized it was crap, it was too late to pull the plug. I would give this game an F- except for the fact that the game it ripped off was so damn good!
