Gardenscapes is the next logical step for the hidden object genre. This game gives us something interesting to play for, and a reason to be quick. Tapping around the screen randomly (my favorite lazy way of playing) is punished in Gardenscapes.
Overall, Gardenscapes is organized in a less-than-ordinary fashion that just might leave you with a better impression or outlook on Hidden Object games. With welcome delivery, there's quite a bit for both fans and non-fans of the genre to get excited about. The only thing that will leave you feeling a little cloudy is the fact that the simulation aspect needed better treatment. But the fun still shines through and the game can rightly be awarded a friendly recommendation.
Gardenscapes is not a game you would want to play for long periods of time, but only when you have a few minutes to spare. It is easier than most hidden object games, so you should never become overly frustrated. It’s nice to see a game of this genre with some underlying purpose, even if that purpose is simply buying garden upgrades.
If you're looking for a novel fusion of object hunting and garden design gameplay, Gardenscapes will leave you feeling wilted. The garden-tending aspect of the game is frustratingly underdeveloped, and really only serves as a fun - if limited - way to watch your progress in the hidden object game. That said, the item-seeking at the heart of the game is well done, and the pastoral setting is a nice change of pace. Fans of the genre should have a good time digging through Gardenscapes - just don't expect anything too novel or exciting to pop up in this patch.
