Nintendojo (Feb 12, 2015)
Gunman Clive 2 is everything a fan of the original game could want: it improves on an already strong framework, without feeling like a rehash. For the price, this is simply one of the best platformers available on the Nintendo 3DS. Gunman Clive 2 proves that Hörberg Productions’ first game was no fluke. The first title felt like an homage to some of the better games from yesteryear, but the sequel proves that the developer has established a unique voice for the franchise moving forward. I truly hope we’ll get to see this franchise continue to grow in the near future.
Seafoam Gaming (Jan 29, 2015)
In conclusion, Gunman Clive 2 improves over the original game in every possible way, with better levels, better bosses, and the addition of color to the world, Gunman Clive 2 is definitely worth the $3! If you are looking for a good challenge lately and want one with a lot of variety, then Gunman Clive 2 is a great choice!
NintendoWorldReport (Jan 29, 2015)
Gunman Clive 2 doesn't last long, as the initial playthrough takes less than two hours, but it's such a consistent, entertaining ride that length isn't a major issue. It feels like a full experience and the end only left me wanting more. Gunman Clive 2 is a fantastic 2D platformer that improves upon the original in just about every single way.
Nintendo Life (Jan 29, 2015)
Gunman Clive 2 successfully avoids the pitfalls that can befall sequels; it offers fresh ideas along with familiar excellence, and provides a notable improvement over its predecessor. Its stylish action platforming - along with dabbles in other approaches - combines with distinguished audio-visual presentation to deliver another gem for the 3DS eShop. We recommend it as a must buy for fans of action platformers, especially those that enjoy retro nods and winks with their modern day experiences - this one's a straight shooter.
Gamegravy (Feb 06, 2015)
This sequel takes everything that was great about the first game and just adds more. The stages are short which can be a small problem, it feels that a stage is just starting and then its over. There is a great difficulty level that only keeps me coming back for more to try new characters or just to try and beat my past time. there are a few stages that can be difficult to play in direct light because they are so dark, this is really just a minor complaint and not a problem. At only $2.99 this is a steal and should be in everybody’s library of games.
Destructoid (Jan 30, 2015)
Gunman Clive 2 has a few problems that newer gamers may have issues with, but this retro fan is more than satisfied. The $2.99 pricepoint is the cherry on top of this delicious platforming dessert.
Nintendo Enthusiast (Jan 29, 2015)
Gunman Clive 2 takes all the assets from the original and builds off them. This sequel surpasses expectations by going bigger and better than before. The gorgeously illustrated graphics, fun boss fights, and multiple gameplay types amount to a great new installment in the (hopefully) ever-growing franchise. With a $3 price tag, it’s a steal, and a must play on the Nintendo 3DS.
Brash Games (Aug 23, 2015)
While it’s over sooner than you’d like, Gunman Clive 2 is a gorgeous little indie game regardless of if you’ve played the first title or not. The gorgeous level design and constant variety make this a short burst of challenging fun that every 3DS owner should own.
Game Informer Magazine (Feb 05, 2015)
Gunman Clive 2 has an undeniable old-school sensibility missing from the glut of new-age nostalgia-fueled independent titles. It doesn’t waste energy building a consistent world – if something seems like it would be cool, it gets thrown at the wall and sticks regardless of whether cowboys really interacted with dinosaurs. I had a great time with Clive for that reason, even if controlling him paled in comparison to the bizarre universe he exists in.
Pocket Gamer UK (Jan 30, 2015)
You get a nice amount of content for your cash (and you may wish to replay the game with the other three characters), and it doesn't outstay its welcome. If you dug the first game you'll enjoy this superior follow-up. But if you're looking for something that recaptures the frantic, bouncy, energetic fun of retro run 'n guns, you might want to look elsewhere.
Aftonbladet (Feb 06, 2015)
