Pokémon Tretta Lab is a utility to be used in conjuction with the arcade game Pokémon Tretta. It is used to catalogue the Pokémon used in the game. The package includes a base for the 3DS to stand on and a scanner used to scan Tretta pucks to be attached to the top screen. The scanner has two spaces for placing Tretta pucks to be scanned. The actual software must be downloaded via a QR code that is included in the package. The game has three modes. In the Tretta Analyzer, the player scans in a Tretta puck and the game displays the contents, including the Pokémon, type and stats. In Type Checker, two Tretta pucks are scanned and the game compares them, seeing how their types match up against one another. Finally, in Auto Battle, two Tretta pucks are scanned and the game plays an automatic demonstration of the two Pokémon battling. The game is packaged with three exclusive Tretta pucks: Rookie promos of Mewtwo, Lucario and Eevee. First print runs also included an exclusive Pichu puck.

There are two versions included in the package, their use depending on which model 3DS the player has: one for the original Nintendo 3DS and one for Nintendo 3DS XL. The utility is no longer supported as of Pokémon Tretta's move to the X and Y series in March, 2014, and it is not compatible with the New Nintendo 3DS or later models.
