This is a near perfect racing game on the iPhone. While the game does feature the annoying nearly infinite options for modification of your car, you can’t really blame Gameloft since everyone is doing it these days. It’s just too much back and forth for me. Just upgrade me automatically, dammit! If you are looking for something less involved you can always just ignore those options and enjoy the arcade racing goodness. If it’s worth the $9.99 depends on how much you like racing games.

Securing new cars and upgrading them is easy. Races help you earn money, and that money simply unlocks more stuff; you never have to think about what an item costs. All you need to worry about is how upgrades affect your car's stats, like top speed, steering, braking, and acceleration. You can customize your car and be ready for the next race in no time.

Asphalt 4 is impressive, fun and would be worth even $20. It’s a high-quality product that sets a new standard for iPhone games. Buy it before Gameloft decides to raise the price.

Asphalt 4 is a great overall package. If you want a fully featured, arcade style game then this is the game for you. However, if you want a realistic racer then you may want to hold on for Real Racing which should be along soon.

Asphalt 4: Elite Racing is worth the $10 -- every penny of it. The game is loaded with different events, 9 cities, and a bunch of licensed cars and motorcycles. The tilt controls are the best of any iPhone racer yet. And the screenshots of the game do not lie. This is a gorgeous game, exploding in color and detail. No serious gamer with an iPhone or iPod Touch should be without this game. It's the best hardcore game on the App Store.

Having promised so much with its wealth of vehicles, tracks and racing modes, not to mention its excellent graphics, Asphalt then narrowly fails to deliver on the other crucial feature: speed.

At $9.99 the game is no bargain, but the price is consistent with games of this quality. I expect to be playing a lot more of ā€œAsphalt4″ in the future.

Where does Asphalt 4 fall short? While the graphics are good, they’re still a bit pixilated and polygons are rather choppy. Music is irritating, and I turned it off quickly. And, bizarrely, you have a brake but no accelerator—there’s no gas pedal; the car goes off on its own, but it’s up to you to slow it down or to use nitrous oxide boosts as appropriate. (In that respect, the game’s a bit like Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart, another iPhone game.)

Asphalt 4: Elite Racing is the most feature packed and fun iPhone racer, a game that actually deserves its $9.99 price tag. You'll gets hours upon hours of wheel swerving, nitrous boosting goodness, all wrapped within a gorgeous display of scenery and muscle machines. Don't even bother with the iPhone's other racing games. Asphalt is the Ferrari to the competitions' Volvo.

When you ask yourself whether it’s worth a purchase, the answer couldn’t be simpler. For a pocket money price you’re getting an extremely solid racer, one that ticks lots of boxes. Asphalt 4: Elite Racing is a great racing game, and possibly the best out on Apple’s handheld sensation. The tracks are the real star, with a fantastic range of interesting, replay-friendly locations, and thanks to the controls, you can enjoy them as they were intended. Just like the roads you’ll race on, this game is slick.

Surprisingly, tilting to steer works really well and there's an amazing amount of gameplay packed into this glorious looking racer. A fun, solid racer, it's just a shame the gameplay can't match the great visuals.

Overall, we think that Asphalt 4: Elite Racing is well worth the asking price of $9.99, given its sophisticated graphics and enjoyable gameplay. If Gameloft irons out the game's remaining trouble spots in an update, it is within striking distance of becoming a "Must Have".
