Decisive Battles of World War II: Battles in Italy
Description
Battles in Italy is a turn-based strategy game which simulates the invasions of Sicily, Salerno and Anzio during WWII. It uses the classical hexagon style and focuses on inner values: the whole game is spent on a overhead map and units are represented by abstract symbols.
The player can choose which side he wants to play on and then gives orders to his troops every turn. The automatic calculated combat takes many factors into consideration, e.g. terrain, weather and unit composition. Also important is the visual range because the game uses the "Fog or War" gameplay element where enemies can only be seen if spotted. Sustaining the supply lines makes sure that the soldiers have enough fuel and food. With a click on a unit he gets all relevant information on the side of the screen.
