Death Tank is one of my favourite retro game remakes in quite some time and you would do well to pick it up. The price is slightly steep considering the lack of single player content, but you do get a polished and incredibly fun multiplayer experience which deserves to be played.

So far Death Tank is one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had on Microsoftâs Live service. Games are usually full of accidental hilarity punctuated with the odd showcase of raw skill. Just donât take the game too seriously or you run the risk of throwing your controller through the TV when you are eliminated first for a few rounds in a row.

All up, Death Tank is a lot of fun. It has a solo player game, though why youâd bother I donât know as the game is really all about the multiplayer. It's a good game for a few mates with a few beers, and a lot of smack talk.

Forget Worms and all the rest, when it comes to parabola-judging multiplayer mayhem this is the best.

Death Tank is simple, maybe too simple for some. But itâs fantastic fun for a same-screen multiplayer game, and could foster the kind of trash talk we like our games like that to elicit. Death Tank is 1200 points, which may seem a bit steep. But you may be really surprised at how much fun you have with this game.

Gamers who grew up with Scorched Earth and its numerous turn-based artillery clones may find Death Tank provides a perfect dose of old-school nostalgia with a modern twist. Thereâs not a ton of depth in the package, and the $15 price tag seems steep, but frantically blowing away opponents is addictive enough to elicit numerous return trips to the mountains for more carnage. Shave a few dollars of the price and this game would feel like a perfect example of an excellent XBLA title. In the end itâs still worth the investment, just be sure to bring some friends along for the ride.

Death Tank is a fun little game that's best experienced with a bunch of friends, because blowing them up is always a good time.

The biggest knock against Death Tank is the price. As one of the more expensive titles on the Xbox Live Arcade service, it provides less than half of the gameplay of R-Type Dimensions. While the game provides a good multiplayer experience, other titles like Worms provide just about the same amount of action at a fraction of the price. Couple that with a relatively short and narrow single-player experience, and you end up with an overpriced Xbox Live Arcade title. Unless you and a few friends are craving the next multiplayer strategy fix, hold off on getting this unless the price drops.

The multiplayer remains excellent fun, but we hate the stupidly high price point. It's almost as if the developers are taking the Michael because they know how popular the Saturn originals were. Add an extra 25% if you're always going to play it with a full complement of friends.

So while Death Tank is may not be the best entry in this particular genre, itâs certainly a respectable one. Thereâs a lot of fun to be had here against human players but the lack of single player variety is a real weak point â particularly during those inevitable moments when very few or no online games are available. At 1200 MS points, its price point as an Xbox Live Arcade title is a big issue as well. Considering that Worms can be had for a third of this price, cost-conscious gamers may want to opt for that. If money is no object, give this title a try and you should be in for some reasonably fun and destructive action.

As essentially an HD real-time remake of the early â90s turn-based war game Scorched Earth, Death Tank delivers bite-sized fun against bots or friends. With each player controlling a tank, you set your cannonâs trajectory and intensity with the left stick, then fire at and obliterate your opponents with the right trigger. Various power-ups like jump jets or nukes â purchased between the 10-30-second rounds using money earned from killing foes â aid your quest for victory (as does blasting the terrain out from under them), and the six-player action is raucous. But basic and advanced 20-round campaigns (which only take 10-15 minutes to complete) are all you get for solo play. At $15, Death Tank is ludicrously overpriced.

If you have ever wondered what Worms would be like if all the little wrigglers got to unleash explosive death on one another at the same time, then Death Tank has the answer. (...) With a decent crowd and a soft-ban on cheap targeting devices, however, there's no question that Death Tank has the potential to be a lot of fun. It's just a pity Worms has already done it better and for a third of the cost.

If you have a bunch of friends coming over who are all willing to kick in a few bucks toward the purchase price, you might actually get your money's worth out of Death Tank. Its real-time take on the tried-and-true Scorched Earth formula can be exciting, especially if everyone agrees not to abuse the target-comp item. But at 1,200 points for an enhanced version of what was previously an Easter egg in other games, it's also one of the most egregiously priced games yet released on Xbox Live Arcade.

Death Tank isnât disappointing solely because of its price; itâs the gameâs soul that leaves plenty to be desired. The weapons are too run of the mill and the structure of both the single and multiplayer portions is unimaginative. Playing with others, as it so often is, brings more fun than playing alone, but after long youâll grow tired of the same action over and over again.

Both this and R-Type before it really didn't justify appearing on the Xbox Live Marketplace for anything over 800 points so despite a few moments of intense addictive gameplay, I can't honestly recommend Death Tank but if it appears as a future Deal of the Week for 400 points then you should definitely give it a go.
