Development background
Development started after two students of the same high school - Jarek Kolář and Petr Vlček first met. They worked on the game for fun and only in their free time. Originally the game should serve only as a test of their editor-engine for creating adventures called "A.G.E." (adventure game editor) with no intention to sell it commercially. The programmer coded almost the whole game on a school's computer because he didn't have his own. After two years of development they contacted Petr Vochozka (the only Czech publisher of games at those times) and signed a publishing deal with him. The game was the first Czech commercial game for the PC.
Sales
2000 copies of the game was supposedly sold (incredible for its time).
Free version
On June 20, 2000 (exactly 6 years after its first release) Tajemství Oslího ostrova was released free exclusively on Czech gaming site BonusWeb.
