Besides those two minor hiccups, Tetris Worlds is a comprehensive disc that provides an above-average amount of block-dropping entertainment. Most of the new interpretations of Alexei Pajitnovs masterpiece are well-done and different enough to add an appreciable amount of substance, and its my firm belief that every gamer worthy of the title needs to own at least one copy of his landmark creation. If you dont already have one, Tetris Worlds is an excellent version of an outstanding game.

This game has been a total disappointment, as it does not live up to its prestigious heritage that other Tetris games had. Even with the extra modes, it still is basically the same game all over. It was a nice thought to add a storyline in the game, but other than the introduction, it doesn't go anywhere. If you are still craving a puzzle game, look to the older Tetris games, as they will quench your thirst.

Bref, un jeu indispensable... si vous n'avez jamais joué à l'original !

You'll have your normal Tetris game and other variations including Cascade, Sticky, Fusion, Square and Hot-Line. There is even a story mode and the expected 4-player support. But when it comes down to it, Tetris Worlds just lacks in interest. In the story mode, you'll have 6 worlds to go through and you'll play in the 6 different play modes. But in actuality, there really isn't much of a story and besides; Tetris players don't play for the story, right? They play for the game.

Nobody is going to buy Tetris Worlds for its new options. People will buy it because itâs Tetris and because they havenât discovered the many free versions that are floating the entire span of the internet. Tetris Worldâs discounted price of $30 is a bonus for a simple game, but it wonât be enough to capture more than the hardcore audience of Tetrisites.

With the exception of Hot-Line, all of the modes are fun, and six modes means more replay value, but the lack of the ability to earn high scores sort of counteracts that. If you are a fan of puzzle games, you almost have to get this, because there are very few puzzle games on GCN. If you aren't, this game won't convert you to enjoying them.

One of the key draws of Tetris has always been its elegant simplicity--a simplicity that allows for open interpretation, which is attested to by the countless forms it has taken on consoles, the PC, cell phones, calculators, and various Web-based platforms over the years. Now, Radical Entertainment and THQ, the current holder of the Tetris license, have brought six different variations on the Tetris formula together for Tetris Worlds on the GameCube. With its wealth of gameplay modes and slick presentation, Tetris Worlds offers several solid interpretations of the classic Russian mindbender, though there's little here that hasn't been seen before.

Tetris Worlds is a good attempt at making Tetris a worthy next generation console title, but it simply falls short. There isn't enough quality material to push this game past the average level, but it's worth a rental for those that are interested in what's being done with the Tetris name.

If you've never played a version of Tetris and are wondering what the fuss is about, you probably wouldn't understand it from this version. Old time fans will also be unimpressed. Still, a straight re-release probably would have irked some also. Tetris Worlds comes not recommended.

I don't think I've ever been this unimpressed by a Tetris game in my entire life. I've been playing the game since it was conceived in the late 80s. I've seen how profound an influence it has had on modern puzzle game design. But, never, ever have I been so disappointed with Tetris. THQ's Tetris Worlds is below average and even for the discounted price, it's not worth the buy. The intended visual and aural "improvements" to the GameCube and Xbox versions were a waste of time. Instead the gameplay should have been totally reworked, especially the multiplayer mode. So, unless you're dying to just play Tetris -- any Tetris -- on your system, don't even bother with Tetris Worlds. The point is that there's nothing new and the peripheral elements such as art and music composition are dull to the point of being abominable.

Tetris Worlds is the least entertaining version of Tetris that I have played. It was less entertaining than on my PC and less entertaining than on a game boy. I even had more fun playing Tetris on my roommateâs graphing calculator back in college. So, if you have another version of Tetris lying around the house, you would do well to avoid the current incarnation.

The reason I only gave gameplay 4 was not a reflection on Tetris itself, but there is simply not enough to offer apart from Tetris itself, which can be found in better forms for way cheaper, which is the general feel I felt throughout the game, and as a package, this game really can't cut it with some of the other console versions of Tetris in the past, and is a real let down.

Okay, so the basic premise is still the same, but this really doesn't feel anything like it should, and no amount of 'imaginative' modes or 'flashy' (and just plain rubbish) special effects are going to change that. If you're one of the 100-odd million people worldwide who have a copy of Tetris on Game Boy, play that instead (or the countless free versions on the Internet), and forget this even exists.
