For PC gamers at least, the decision by Dice to lead on our beloved platform has resulted in a game that delivers a truly next-generation feel. BF3 is an absolutely massive experience, but it's the explosive multiplayer mode that makes this the must-have FPS of the year. There's simply no other shooter that lets you wage war on a scale this huge, but even better is the infinite number of satisfying ways to lay the hurt down on your opponents. See you on the Battlefield.

Un must have.

With Battlefield 3, DICE have at long last raised the bar of PC gaming above the long-held bottleneck of console-parity, to bring us a game that’s finally worth upgrading for and I dare say it carries with it a potential for a renaissance of the PC first person shooter.

It's pretty easy when it comes down to it. If you're looking for an offline experience, look elsewhere. Battlefield 3 has a decent singleplayer - it's certainly better than some other games I've played recently - but it's not mind-blowing. If it's the best multiplayer game in the world that you're after, get your affairs in order. You're re-enlisting soldier.

In closing I would say that Battlefield 3 ups the gaming bar and stands on its own two feet. Its single player experience is stellar, but it fly’s to new heights with its multiplayer experiences. Battlefield 3’s visuals will just about melt your brain. While the game is not perfection..(What is really?) it comes very close to gaming bliss.

Battlefield fans hoping for the most polished entry in the series won’t be disappointed by this massive sequel. Multiplayer maintains the high level of quality DICE is known for, and the campaign is the best in franchise history. Outside of the annoying Battlelog and a tacked-on, uninspired co-op mode consisting of six short standalone missions, the only downside to Battlefield 3 is the lack of substantial changes to the multiplayer formula. However, that shouldn’t stop longtime fans and newcomers from enjoying one of the best FPS experiences in gaming.

Battlefield 3 is kind of an enigma in the gaming industry right now. It's a big-budget shooter that was designed specifically for the PC. And while the console versions are competent, Battlefield 3 can really only be experienced on a functional PC.

Battlefield 3 is the new baseline in first person shooter games and while the single player is short and painfully linear, you can only admire the atmosphere and the visuals. Multiplayer maps are too small for 64 players and the game needs a patch or two to fix some small issues but otherwise the online play is pretty much spot on - BF3 will be played for years to come.

Battlefield 3 then, from a campaign perspective, delivers the goods and then some. It's not perfect, but it's bloody close... infinitely more impressive than Bad Company 2 and irrefutable proof that DICE have now firmly stepped into the hallowed ranks of the absolute top-tier developers. COD or not, this deserves a place in your collection - not to mention a place in your heart.

Battlefield 3 is a lot like prior games in the series. It features a stellar multiplayer suite with practically limitless replay value and a mostly forgettable campaign. The coop missions are a nice addition, and to be fair, the single-player is the best in series history, but it still falls short of its contemporaries.

In the end, Battlefield 3 is the experience that PC First Person Shooter gamers are looking for. Sure, as a whole, the game is not perfect, but the feature-rich multiplayer is the king of the genre, and the class-based warfare will keep you coming back. The main campaign does lack innovation, but it is definitely one of the best of the franchise. This game was made for the PC platform and it is apparent with the level of detail in its presentation. If you PC gamer and you just happen to be a die-hard multiplayer first person shooter fan, Battlefield 3 is definitely the game for you.

Battlefield 3 is a game that's informed, not bound, by both its predecessors and its competition. It takes what made the series great in earlier games and marries it to the innovations from more recent BF titles. The single-player and co-op campaigns both have their issues, but the multiplayer component is worth the price of entry alone.

Despite some problems, Battlefield 3 delivers right where it counts: online play. The single player mode looks great but is rather limited, and the competitive multiplayer might be a bit buggy and doesn't pull in all of the best features of every past Battlefield game, but it still lives up to the hype - and for those that were disappointed in the beta, it might even exceed the hype - and gives us a wonderful online experience that is unlike any other in the FPS world.

Battlefield 3 is a game of contrasts, starting with mediocre, in the form of the single-player story, building up to decent, with the pretty short co-op campaign, and finishing up with excellent, in the form of the competitive multiplayer. Battlefield 3 is a triumph of multiplayer gaming. Designed for the people that get sick of the insta-death of titles like Call of Duty you can play round after round, ranking up, and never fire a bullet by being a valued team member in engineering or medical. The campaign is 5 hours of mediocre and easily is the worst part of the package. That said it at least offers entertainment and still looks gorgeous thanks to the advances in the Frostbyte 2 engine. The PC version, with it’s enhanced graphics and 64 player online maps, is the definitive version of the game. The massive online following and hours of play that aspect will yield are priceless and I can’t recommend you play it enough.

Battlefield 3 is without a doubt the best open multiplayer game of the moment. The huge maps, the vehicles, the vast customization and almost perfect balance in every map are proof that DICE know how to create an experience that has no equal. If you ask me, there’s no clear winner between Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3. Sure, from a sales standpoint, the figures lean towards CoD, but BF3 has proven to be a best-seller too, and sales will only reflect mass tendencies, not an absolute quantification of the game’s value. It’s all a matter of taste, after all. They each provide a certain type of entertainment – when talking about Battlefield 3, it involves a bigger game, more open in its possibilities and more spectacular. But on a longer timeline, less frantic and with fewer Bruce Willis scenes than the mass appeal beast it set itself to dethrone.

Dice kann also doch sehr gute Solo-Kampagnen!

EA wants Battlefield 3 to be all things to all people, and it’s right in thinking that the addition of a singleplayer duck shoot doesn’t detract from its other substantial offerings. Battlefield 3 is exactly what Battlefield fans most likely wanted: a chaotic, gorgeous multiplayer game with small, but important tweaks to what already worked in past games. On its own terms, Battlefield 3 is an odd beast. On the one hand, it features some of the most engaging multi-player available this year, warts and all. On the other hand, it sports one of the most insipid and boring single-player modes around - oh yeah, there’s co-op too, but that isn’t really worth playing either. What to do? If you’re part of the majority of fans who just want to skip straight into the online modes, there’s no question: Battlefield 3 is stellar. The same can’t be said for the rest of the package, so people uninterested in internet warfare would be best advised to stay away. It's hard to review a game like Battlefield 3; if it had been offered with the multiplayer only component I would have easily given it a 10 out of 10. It provides a deep and engrossing experience that is addictive, fun and ahead of the pack in every way possible. However we didn't just get the multiplayer, we got served up a single-player campaign that is boring and contrived, and a co-op campaign that offers a similar experience. It lacks purpose and identity, and offers nothing more than a great looking, scripted experience. If you're looking for a multiplayer game that provides online warfare with unparalleled depth and scope, Battlefield 3 will meet all of your expectations, and then some. [Multiplayer review] I suppose what I am trying to say is that if you can't find something to like in Battlefield 3's multiplayer then you are living in a world where multiplayer first-person combat is an unhappy experience. That would be a shame. Ultimately, I think most of you will get something out of being under fire, behind a wall, with your comrades yelling through the dust and the smoke, as snipers try to give you covering fire, with a grenade landing nearby, with an APC exploding like a collapsing star just yards away... All other considerations be damned. It's the thrill of battle that really matters. And it's right here.

[Campaign review] It's okay. You'll probably enjoy the noise and the fury. This campaign probably isn't going to put much a dent in Modern Warfare 3's enormous sales and general popularity, but - as a number of readers have pointed out - for those of us who actually give a damn about FPS games, that isn't what matters. What matters is what happens with the multiplayer. I'm going to get stuck into that next.
