First off, there is good force feedback when used with my Thrust Master T150 racing wheel, and the racing segments are well executed.
The sound quality is excellent, especially the dramatic music and car engine sounds, and the picture quality is so realistic, and that's all I have to say!
Now on to the negatives. The PS button gets locked up when using a Thrust Master racing wheel. The only workaround I used is to plug in the DualShock 3 controller and the Thrust Master racing wheel together in order for the PS3 menus to be activated on the DualShock controller while the racing wheel is used in-game.
The ideas that EA (the creator of the Need for Speed games) had executed though... it just feels like an action film (except for the racing parts), nothing more. The game choices are fairly limited and you only get to race with the pre-selected car used in "The Run".
Finally, the introduction of the game prompts you to escape the car using the buttons on the controller before the actual driving begins, which is kinda weird.
The Bottom Line
So far, this is the weakest Need for Speed game I have ever played from EA. Good Force Feedback, Well-executed Racing segments, and Pristine Feature Film-like Sound and Picture Quality makes Need for Speed: The Run a good choice, but with a poorly executed presentation that plays like an action film.
If you like a hybrid of action films (with car chase scenes) and racing, Need for Speed: The Run would be a good choice, but for others... hold your money for better Need for Speed titles from EA if you want more choices. It may not be for you, but some people may like it!
