If youâre looking for a shooter that is crazy fun, insane and features a hell of a lot of âsplosions, then this is the game for you and three of your best gun slinging friends. If youâre looking for something deep, serious and realistic, jog on; thereâs nothing for you to see here.

I'd argue that Shoot Many Robots would've done better as a straightforward, linear shooter with regular acquisition of new weapons, rather than having you buy everything, but it's a relatively minor complaint. The rest of the game's fast, funny, and incredibly well-designed.

From the addictive loot gathering to the endless slaughter of robot overlords, Shoot Many Robots offers hours of chaotic and entertaining gameplay. Unfortunately, issues of repetition and a difficult single-player experience distract from the overall experience. Shoot Many Robots can only be recommended to gamers that are willing to take their fight against the robot apocalypse online.

Demiurgeâs gonzo approach to the old formula and a ton of customization options make for a cool jump-in-and-play-with-friends arcade game. It ainât deep, but if youâre looking for complexity out of something called âShoot Many Robots,â odds are youâd also try to buy a slightly used continent off eBay. Regrettably, youâve got to hit a narrow window of conditions to enjoy shooting all those robots over the long term. Too-powerful weapons acquired too soon can also neuter the challenge well before you get a party started. That said, as team-carnage games go, youâll get some mileage out of this one. Grab a few of your drinkinâ buddies, and have yourselves a fun (and cheap) night of gratuitous hillbilly firepower and richly deserved robo-death. Preferably with your beer goggles on.

Shoot Many Robots doesn't try to be everything. It aims to be an arcade co-op shooter with hooks, and those hooks are sharp as hell thanks to some clever writing and thoughtful, diabolical loot design. That narrow ambition pays off in a game that might sound like a side-scrolling Borderlands clone on paper, but stakes out territory all its own in practice. If you can get some friends together, Shoot Many Robots is a perfect way to spend a weekend or two, traipsing through robot corpses in your prettiest propeller beanie and tutu.

But, ultimately, Shoot Many Robots has it tough: it's a manic shooter designed to be played in co-op, but this is a small game from a little studio and the chance of it getting enough exposure to interest you and three of your mates online will likely prove problematic. Ubisoft stands a much better chance of getting a few people huddled together around a sofa, though the game's demand for extended play before you can start unlocking all the good stuff clashes with the immediacy required for the kind of beer-fuelled co-op session you'd ideally want. There's fun to be had here, but you might find yourself having to work for it.

Ultimately, Shoot Many Robots is a simply average game with a simple, straight forward concept. There is nothing here making it a must-play title but if you do play online with friends, it can make for a fun few hours of mindless run 'n' gun gameplay. If you plan on playing through solo, I would think twice as the experience became painfully boring during my first day with the game. Despite the faults, Shoot Many Robots is an impressive rookie debut for Demiurge Studios and I will be looking forward to what they have to offer us in the future.
