The Vita version of Mortal Kombat hits just as hard as its console counterparts.

Overall, if you own a Vita, this is one of the must-have titles out there. Even if you beat Mortal Kombat on the consoles, it’s worth picking up for the Bonus Challenge Tower alone. The game offers you plenty to do and is more than worth the $40 price point.

With an extensive single player campaign, hundreds of challenges, and a smooth and functional online multiplayer mode, Mortal Kombat for the PS Vita has certainly lived up to my expectations. Control of the on screen action even feels better with the inclusion of the touchscreen support. Despite a few graphic issues, I consider this game a must own title for any PS Vita owner, let alone any fighting game fans, as there is so much content packed into this $40.00 game. Go now and find it at your local gaming store, as you won’t be disappointed.

From a portable standpoint and comparing Mortal Kombat to the rest of the handheld competition, this one is a clear-cut winner. The control is just about right, the graphical presentation is loaded with beautiful animations, the roster is huge, and there’s a ton of content. The story is still totally lame, the Challenge Tower can sometimes feel unfairly tough, and the AI is…well, MK AI, but those aren’t deal-breakers. If you were wondering how Mortal Kombat would look and play on the Vita, I’ve got only one thing to say— Buy it and find out.

The replay value of the game is quite high. Admittedly the central core of the game, as ever, is learning the ability to beat the crap out of the opposition, but the inclusion of the various games modes and wide range of characters means you have many more than the eight hours gameplay included in the story mode alone.

Een must!
