At 800 points ($10) Nexiuz is worth your time and money. This is a great game to roll into your rotation of modern military shooters and the perfect game to throw on while you drink a few beers with friends; it's an intense game, but varied and fun enough that people won't take game sessions too seriously and will just enjoy their time with it.

It might seem limiting that you can only play with two teams of up to four players, and that the only game modes are vanilla deathmatch and vanilla capture the flag. But once you start to appreciate the mutators, and especially the way they affect the flag in capture the flag games, you wonât call anything in Nexuiz vanilla. This game is crazy Neapolitan through and through, with a sense of mad glee for how frequently and flagrantly it breaks the rules.

Nexuiz is a smart, speedy shooter for a great price.

Nexuiz is brilliant when it comes to simplicity and speed. The removal of narrative constraints, elaborate customization, and convoluted online modes serves as a boon for the shooter. Unfortunately, the fact you can't launch a match without six players, the lack of balance when someone drops out, and the paramount importance of an active community serve as a warning to the Nexuiz experience. When a full match plays out uninterrupted, Nexuiz is divine. But the sudden see-saw in balance when someone leaves or having to wait in a lobby indefinitely during non-peak hours mark frustrating aspects of the package.

There is so much to this package, and it is well worth the ten dollars. I had a great time with this little downloadable shooter, and I think that anyone who is nostalgic for another game of this type, or even a Call of Duty veteran, will find something to love here. Overall, I recommend this game, as it leaves something fun to keep coming back to, time and time again.

Nexuiz canât hold a candle to full-priced war games, but its mix of constant speed and occasional silliness make it just the thing for when youâve got only 10 minutes to kill.

Shooter fans who have trouble sitting still and want nothing but nonstop, fast, fast, fast action can enjoy Nexuiz for a little while. Itâs a fully competent Quake or Unreal Tournament clone with extra unpredictability that comes from Dynamic Mutators. One second you might be flying around in temporary jetpacks, and the next you might be playing in a new, forced third-person view. Purists may shun these âinstant mods,â but then they can just go back to, well, Quake or Unreal Tournament. These random variables add some flavor to each match. But with limited multiplayer options (and no single-player modes other than bot training), long waits for matches to start, boring weapons, and a carrot-on-a-stick progression system that is way more stick than carrot, Nexuiz is doomed to obscurity.

This game is a fast paced shooter that brings you back to the roots of shooters. The graphics are above average and the sound is average but the gameplay is really what we care about. This game is solid and should be played without fear of a poorly made game. If you are a fan of shooters or are looking for a retro game that isnât 100% retro, this is the game for you.

I would be remiss if I didnât mention what was the most surprising and entertaining moment of Nexuiz. There is a specific mutator that affects the sound effect of your guns and movements â a hilarious moment that really emphasizes how much fun the developers want you to have with this game. If consequential updates offer more arenas, game modes, and a few other balancing gameplay changes, this game could have a lasting power that other titles canât even imagine. At a cheap 800 Microsoft points, the game certainly merits trying. It goes without saying that as more people purchase it, the gameâs experience will only become better. Until then, long load times and a tough reward system ensure that it certainly caters to the niche of insanely fast-shooters, but might be unforgiving and underwhelming to other types of gamers.

Nexuiz offre un gameplay che sembrava dimenticato. Veloce, frenetico e allo stesso tempo estremamente tattico.

I donât know if you can teach an old dog new tricks, but you certainly can teach an old dog one new trick. And thatâs exactly whatâs been done here. Nexuiz meets the bar of quality youâd expect from a console arena shooter, and does very little to rise above it. If thatâs enough for you, Nexuiz will not disappoint.

As beloved as the subgenre and the original Nexuiz mod are among a certain crowd, this Xbox Live Arcade remake is nothing more than a haphazard port of a 2005 mod for a game that came out 10 years ago â except you have to pay money for it. Those of us older folks who are nostalgic for the gameplay Nexuiz emulates likely have a PC that runs any of the dozens of excellent alternatives, and the younger console crowd has plenty of more modern shooters to choose from.

Nexuiz is good for a visit back to the days of the arena shooter and at 800 MS Points, itâs a fun diversion from today's XP-grinding shooters. The gameplay is solid, and can keep you and some friends entertained for a few hours, but ultimately, there's not much left to it after you've seen all of the Mutators. It's hard to forget that even after the numerous PC updates, you're playing a nearly seven year-old game, and after a few hours, it feels that way. If you are looking to take a trip back to the glory days of Quake mods, Nexuiz is what you are looking for. Just donât expect to stay for long.

Most matches are stable, and Nexuiz is certainly a competent shooter, though it does very little to differentiate itself from its competitors. With a better matchmaking system and more multiplayer options, it would be easier to recommend. As it stands, with so many quality shooters in the budget download market (or even the free-to-play market, for that matter), the few intriguing pieces of Nexuiz aren't enough to lift it above the crowd.

It all adds up to shallow pleasure that quickly gives way to a litany of niggling frustrations. Nexuiz is fine with the broad strokes, thanks largely to a tried-and-trusted style of gameplay that is inherently appealing, but it's in the nuance and details that it really comes unstuck. Looking to the past for inspiration is a worthy enough goal in itself, but there's a big difference between updating a good idea and simply resuscitating it. Nexuiz leans too heavily on residual player goodwill, built up by older and better titles, but doesn't add enough fresh ideas of its own to escape those warm, fuzzy shackles of nostalgic indulgence.

At best, Nexuiz is a bargain-bin, first-generation Xbox game. At worst, it's a financed effort that crumbles before its free, community-made predecessors. But hey, it's better than The Punisher: No Mercy! I guess that's what counts for progress in this sub-genre these days.

Not only that, but it just feels generic. It feels like they took what the original developers made and added a shiny gloss to it, ignoring what made it special to the time period it originally existed in. Thereâs nothing that feels special about Nexiuz, neither changes that make it feel comfortable on its new home, nor any additional features to warrant a special purchase. Sure, itâs something different from the Halos, CODs and GoWs, but those games all found ways to attract gamers to their specific and unique causes.

Those who know the roots of Nexuiz will understand why it just doesnât feel right. The original game was created by weekend warriors and modders, and thatâs exactly what this feels like. It lacks the creative direction and polish of a professional studio, and those are the things that refine a game into something more than a mod. If this were a free-to-play mod for Crysis weâd recommend it in a heartbeat, but for 800 MSP your money is better saved for something else. Weâll wait until CliffyB and the team at Epic Games wise up and decide to re-release Unreal Tournament on XBLA, thanks.
