(...) Statt Blut spucken die Gegner allerdings nur Federn aus. Somit dürfen hier ebenso jüngere Semester ohne Reue zum Pad greifen. Die sehen dann vielleicht auch über den abwechslungsarmen Spielverlauf hinweg, der abseits einiger Bosskämpfe leider kaum Höhepunkte bietet. Als Pausenfüller ist die fröhliche Texmex-Prügelei aber allemal geeignet.

Los que disfrutamos en nuestra adolescencia de los salones recreativos acogemos con gran alegría estas propuestas clásicas actualizadas. Sin embargo en este caso, aunque el apartado visual sea bueno y su ambientación mariachi es genial, el desarrollo jugable flojea mucho, dejándonos un sabor de boca agridulce.

We genuinely can't help but feel sorry for the art team, who've done a fantastic job of bringing the world and characters to life. These guys have clearly poured a lot of love into Lucha Fury, and it's a great shame to see amateur game design decisions kick this bucket of charm so ruthlessly down the gutter.

Only a very forgiving person will find something to like in Lucha Fury. The visuals are about the only saving grace that I could find in the game. The brawling action is decent, but it's brought down severely by the bad controls. Throw in the flaw of no online multiplayer and you've got a title that has very little in the way of the fun. At 800 points on the Xbox LIVE marketplace, Lucha Fury is not worth buying at all.

With so many excellent beat-'em-ups out there to draw inspiration and design knowledge from, it's appalling that Lucha Fury's gameplay is this bad. If anything, it's a perfect example of how not to make a beat-'em-up. The real shame is that all the attention poured into the great artistic direction is wasted on such an awful game. This is one sexy-looking brawler to be sure, but you don't even want to hit it with an electrified cattle prod much less share it with friends.

Ich bin ehrlich entsetzt - entsetzt darüber, wie ein Beat-em-Up, das so toll aussieht, sich gleichzeitig so furchtbar spielen kann! Das Arrrrriba!-Artdesign ist wirklich sehr gelungen, die Comic-Umgebungen sind detailliert und stilsicher, die Figuren kreativ gestaltet. Und das war's auch schon mit den vorzeigbaren Pro-Punkten, denn als Brawler im klassischen Stil macht Lucha Fury so ziemlich alles falsch, was man falsch machen kann: Die Kämpfer steuern sich furchtbar träge und ungenau, die Kollisionsabfrage scheint einem Zufallsgenerator zu entspringen, es gibt massig Clippingfehler, die Ausführung der Kombos ist ungenau, die Bosskämpfe sind ideenlos, es gibt keinen Online-Modus, die lokale Variante muss gemeinsam begonnen und beendet werden - Drop In/Out existiert nicht. Was eine zeitgemäße Hommage an alte Final Fight/Streets of Rage-Tage hätte werden können, entpuppt sich als bedauernswerter Schrott in schöner Hülle.

Lucha Fury is visually gorgeous with an aesthetic that oozes charm, but this skin-deep beauty acts as a Siren's call, luring unwary gamers to crash against putrid game design of a most shallow and wearisome nature. The game's low quality is apparent within seconds of starting the game, and it remains at the same consistent level of sub-par rubbish from the moment you start to the moment you inevitably decide to stop playing ahead of completion.
