UGO (UnderGroundOnline) (A-)

The only downsides are that the music can get annoying with time, and the controls seem to be a little more strict than other racing games. However, N-Gagers looking for a true racing simulation will find a lot to enjoy in this game.

Overall this is a wonderful little conversion of a classic game. It shows what potential the N-Gage can have as a gaming machine if given a little love and attention. Even those not particularly enthralled by racing games as a genre should give this a look as the challenge of setting the fastest time is one of the purest forms of gaming addiction there is. Great stuff.

All About N-Gage (89 out of 100)

Colin’s not a mega-game. It takes a long time to learn how to handle the car, and you do need some dedication. But after a few days you’ll be in the general area and able to start progressing through the Championship. Then you’ll be ready to take your car out into the real world and challenge on the Arena. And that’s what it’s all about really. None of this namby-pamby computer AI, you want to play against real people and out drive them comprehensively. So it’s an 89% Recommended score for Colin McRae, and you can’t get much better than that for what is, arguably, the best simulator type game we have on the N-Gage.

Much like the console version of the same name, Colin McRae Rally 2005 is an excellent rally title and certainly not a bad first entry in the racing genre for the N-Gage. The value is high too giving the sheer amount of tracks and vehicles available, but also because of the Bluetooth and Arena support.

A realistic, simulation driving experience like no other on the N-gage, Colin McRae Rally 2005 manages to deliver an entertaining racing experience with lots of gameplay depth. Gamers hoping for something a bit more challenging and in-depth than the usual street racing titles would be wise to check out love Colin McRae Rally 2005. The world hasn't seen a mobile racer this good before and it probably won't see another until the PSP is released. Why wait two months for something that might not even occur when you could be engrossed in a great game right now? You've already got an N-Gage. Whether it's sitting in your closet, buried under your desk, or collecting dust under the bed doesn't matter. All that matters is that you spent a fortune for a mobile game device that didn't have nearly enough reasons to justify its hefty price tag. With games like Colin McRae Rally 2005 in stores now, N-Gage is finally justified.

To say the N-Gage needed software like this early is an understatement. Sadly, it was a few years too late and the system has long since left gamer's minds. For that hardcore set still playing, Colin McRae Rally 2005 is a necessary software investment.

Colin McRae 2005 for N-Gage works well, but the steering, soundtrack and sound effects still need some work. The great amount of tracks and vehicles available does make it a good buy. Having no real Multiplayer via N-Gage Arena and only Bluetooth is a little drawback, but overall it's a fine racing game. Colin McRae 2005 would make a fine addition to anyone’s N-Gage library.

Head-to-head Bluetooth races also give you another car to occupy the courses, and the experience is as seamless as you'd expect. If I had to pick one type of racing sub-genre to play, rally wouldn't be it (I'm a bigger fan of Destruction Derby 2 or the Burnout series). Regardless, Colin McRae Rally 2005 is a stunning achievement on N-Gage, and handheld gaming as a whole. If you've been dissatisfied with driving on the go like I have, take this baby for a spin.
