Donald Duck Goin' Quackers is quite the good adventure game, especially for youngsters. It got very imaginative gameplay that will keep children occupied for hours, but the replay value isn't what you would call Crash: Warped or Final Fantasy, instead it's more like Metal Gear Solid without a single cut-scene. Albeit, never the less Donald Duck's videogame is one amusing game to play, its got bright and cartoony graphics, with some Crash Bandicoot-esque gameplay mixed into a Disney package, this is probably the best Disney game to hit store shelves since Toy Story 2, way to go team Ubi Soft!

Wow, Quack Attack really surprised me. Most other Disney tie-in\'s (Dinosaur, Mulan) fall way short of the mark when it comes down to computer games and are often considered to be an \'easy cash-in\'. Donald Duck steps into the shoes normally worn by Crash Bandicoot for a platform game that has all the fun and frustrations usually associated with this genre.

Although largely derivative of Crash Bandicoot, Goin' Quackers for PlayStation is a surprisingly entertaining game that packs quite a bit of challenge considering its target market. I would have scored it even higher had the developers been able to better capture the essence of Donald. For a game based on an animated character, there is a surprising lack of animation – and where are the voice-overs?

Short but sweet, Donald Duck in Goin' Quackers is a strong buy for kids. I remember how many times I used to play through platformers when I was in diapers (I'm proud to say I've been wearing big boy pants for two years now). With that in mind, I'm sure children ages six years and up will milk a lot of use out of this game. They've got good reason to. Although it may be on the quick and easy side, it's got all the right stuff.

We loved Quack for the first few hours but our attention waned after that. It's a polished product and is full of Disney splendour - all the Ducky characters pop up to say "Hi!" - but is very simple to stomp through. Younger players and those wanting a trip down memory lane will think Quack is the duck's whiskers. Definitely worth a beak.

Children will enjoy the lively adventures of Donald Duck, and some of those who enjoyed the DuckTales animated series will want to check out Goin' Quackers. Those who want a deeper, more satisfying platform adventure should probably save this for a weekend rental.

That Duck is Cracked

The Good
There's honestly not that much see that will catch your eye, let alone wow you. If you're new to 3D platforming, this title is extremely generous in its difficulty, you should have no problem completing it in under an hour. The only satisfaction that you might get through beating the game 100% is getting back at the ever-annoying jerk Gladstone Gander.

The Bad
Gameplay is uninteresting and unimaginative. It's all about fetching stars and toys and fighting weak little critters. It's more ploughing through four funhouse of horror areas. Even the chase levels where you're waddling towards the camera don't beef up the game. The constant hints and dialogue you get from Gyro Gearloose as you dive into a new level really ruin the flow. The bosses are just big baddies that you stomp or bop three times in a row.

Where there's presentation in this game, it's terrible everywhere. The cutscenes look like some bad claymation short film and the voice acting is obnoxious, not to mention the poor choice of words and dialogue. Music is mediocre and forgettable and doesn't drive you on. The voxel movement throughout the game is choppy and mocks the cartoon physics of a good-fashioned Disney cartoon.

The Bottom Line
The abbreviation of Quackers being [email protected]?* is a dead giveaway that this game spells bad in every aspect. It's hard to believe that Ubisoft made this title, seeing as the bulk of their games are great to play. It is not a faithful adaptation of Disney's Ducktales or any Disney Duck-related media for that matter. This poor excuse for a Crash Bandicoot clone will never live on. The biggest insult is that this game is proclaimed "a dedication to Carl Barks", but this is just a pitiful cash grab to profit on the Disney duck franchise. Playing this game is just playing a big prank on yourself. You'll want to duck away from this title and play a Capcom Disney game instead.
