Trivia
TV show
A version of Fort Boyard was made for UK television in the late 90s. The format was already familiar to UK viewers, however, because a variation called The Crystal Maze was shown previously. This featured a team of 6 contestants playing a succession of tasks across 4 time zones to gain crystals, which gave them extra time in the final game to collect tokens towards a prize. Original host Richard O'Brien injected a line of hammy humour into it, with lots of side-references to 'Mumsy' and communication with an unseen computer, and it was hugely popular until he left it.
