Creatures
- Creatures (1990 on Commodore 64, 1993 on Amiga, Atari ST)
Description official descriptions
Creatures is a biological simulation. You start with six eggs of Norns, cute little creatures who live in an imaginary world. Your task is to give them knowledge about the world they live in, teach them how to speak, how to use toys or an elevator, how to eat, and so on. They will eventually grow older, reproduce and die. The game uses its own genetics system, as well as biochemical and neurological calculations to determine the evolution of Norns and the way their DNA would develop in their descendants.

Amazing! My favorite game EVER!
The Good
This game is COOL. I absolutely love tinkering with the genetics of my Creatures! And breeding them- the offspring are always interesting!
The Bad
It crashes occasionally on my computer, but that's all I don't like.
The Bottom Line
This is an artficial life simulation with monkey-ish animals called Norns. I have been playing this game for 4 years straight and I'm still not bored with it! Try it out- even thought it's not the latest version (I can't find anywhere selling creatures 2 in Australia so I can't compare them for you, sorry!) it will still amaze you!

Trivia
Douglas Adams
The front of the UK box has this testimonial:
The same processes which gave rise to life in the real world have been modelled in software and the results are awe-inspiring." - Douglas Adams, author of 'The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy'.
Eggs
The original Windows release came with an egg disk on which a number of Norn eggs were saved that could be transported into the game. This, however, caused them to be permanently erased from the original egg disk. Later releases and patches of the game featured an egg generator which randomly created Norn eggs and their genetic information.
