Unless you've got a desire to run around a virtual theme park looking for strangers you can earn points from to gain admission to attractions, you're better off passing on this one. You'll spend far too much time in the park, and not enough in the attractions, and that's just not very fun, no matter how old you are.

Under almost no circumstances would this game be worth a purchase, for anyone. Even if there happened to be someone out there who found this game fun to play, the laughably short overall length would knock it down to a single rental. And even for rental purposes, Iâm sure most would quickly wish they had their couple bucks back, to buy a cheeseburger. Even if they donât really like cheeseburgers.

I can't believe I finished this game once, and doing it again makes me want to vomit. After you've finished, the games can be played without going into the park, but there's no reason to ever play them again. It's painful, not fun. Shame on Universal Studios and Kemco for making one of the worst games I've ever seen.

Problem is, the games aren't very long or addictive and there aren't enough of them to make this feel like a whole game, but little 'uns should dig the simple action, cutesy graphics and cool movie music. Strictly for kids!

Nintendo has always projected a kid-oriented image, and with games like Universal Studios Theme Park Adventure being released for its systems, it's not hard to see why. Universal Studios casts you in the role of a nameless, childish protagonist and sets you off at the gates of the famous theme park for a day of exploration. Unfortunately, the game is too frustrating and convoluted for kids to have any fun with it, and all but the most desperate adult GameCube fans will find it tedious and unentertaining as well.

The best part about Universal Studios Theme Park is the Trivia Quiz portion of the game -- and that's clearly something for adult players to enjoy. The rest is a jumbled mess of disorganized goals, sloppy navigation and boring destinations topped off with incredibly dated graphics and an overall adventure that can fairly easily be beaten, if one has the stomach for it.

Universal Studios a tout du jeu développé à la va-vite. Et les quatre mini-jeux multijoueurs ne rattrapent pas ce titre.

Universal Studios isn't appalling, it's just staggeringly boring. On the front of the box it claims to be "A VIP ticket to theme park adventure", but a more apt description would be "A crap day out picking up other people's refuse while being stalled by Woody Woodpecker and his creepy 360 degrees resolving head". Having said that, while this might not be utterly hateful, it's dreary and idiotic enough to warrant smashing it to bits with a hammer.

There's the odd side-quest to 'liven things up', but having to track down some idiot's lost cellphone isn't a world away from trash hunting. And the presence of world's worst cartoon character Woody Woodpecker - complete with a head that, terrifyingly, spins through 360 degrees in order to watch your every move - are the icing on the cake. This is - literally - a load of rubbish.

Avoid at all costs. In fact, don't even pretend that this exists. Go spend your money on other games. Just stay the heck away from this supposed amusement park.
Jan 18th, 2002 · GameCube · read reviewWho designed this thing? You can stop and talk to people, but it's pointless, as they just utter rubbish like "Hello", and "This is exciting!" Exciting? What game are they playing?! There's also an idiotic movie trivia game, which offers really bad multiple-choice questions about inconsequential films like Dragon Heart, Patch Adams, and Back to the Future 3. Due to a bug in the game, occasionally the choices aren't even displayed on the screen! Univeral Studios Theme Park Adventure is an absolute travesty - the video game equivalent of raw sewage. I'm usually quite amused when I review bad games, but this one just left me feeling disgusted.

Universal Studios could have been a little more better.

The Good
Well, when make world famous rides from world famous parks into games, you get a good and bad game. Based into mini games, this kinda slows the process. The park featured is the one in Osaka, Japan, with the park layout mostly different from the ones in Hollywood (my favorite!) and Orlando. So on the cool side, the player gets to play in the Japanese park that the average American doesn't even know exists! Good idea Kemco! The gameplay for some of the mini games is good, giving a little challenge. The music they provide is perfect, giving a sense of determination, suspense, action, and thrills. I think Backdraft, Waterworld, and Back to the Future were great!
The Bad
But a problem is that all though this a 3D adventure, it doesn't give off much in one perspective. When navigating thru the park, the surroundings are 3D but you the camera angles are all just stuck in one place, so its kinda hard to turn around to places or search for letters. After passing across the screen, the process begins again and again. You just get sick of it. If you could move as freely as Lara Croft or Mario, that would make the experience alot more better. Then you would really be able to explore Universal Studios! Gameplay for a couple games was tricky and boring. I think Jaws and the Wild Wild Wild West sucked the hardest. The cheesy recreation of the Climax for Waterworld bit the big one. My suggestion would be to keep the choice of viewing at different angles and put real live action footage of the show! That would be more pleasing and cooler, to help bring back memories...ah.
The Bottom Line
What you get is a game based on a tourists' day at the park. There will be happy memories and stupid memories that your tourist will take on in Universal Studios. Theme park enthusiasts or fans of the movies portrayed will like this. Mostly good but there are its flaws.
