Nach dem Intro-Video wollte ich gleich mal anfangen zu surfen, doch da taten sich schon die ersten Schwierigkeiten auf. Ich hatte gleich mal Probleme aufzustehen. Nach einem ausführlichen Tutorial steigerten sich die Surffähigkeiten (zumindest jene am Controller) um Dimension. Kelly Slater’s Pro Surfer hält einen durch die zahlreichen (wenn manchmal auch schwer zu erfüllenden) Missionsziele schwer auf Trab, fordert immer mehr Können um noch mehr Punkte zu erlangen und fördert durch die gelungenen (wenn auch nicht zahlreichen) Mehrspielermodi den Spielspass. Meine Lieblingsmissionen gleich zu Beginn sind jene bei denen man andere Windsurfer oder Badegäste nassspritzen soll.

KSPS is the perfect example of how great presentation and amazing audio can really contribute to a gaming experience. A must for wave jockeys, but even those who are land-locked will find themselves on a mini-vacation when playing.

Barring some minor camera angle improvements and slight graphical tweaks, beach bums couldn't ask for much more. Outclassing its closest competitor by several board lengths, Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer has made me a firm believer, not just in it, but the viability of the subject matter in general. Creatively, the game isn't a revolution by any means, merely a refinement upon a well-established equation, and a tepid spinoff at best. Nonetheless, in practice, it's the sickest way to hang ten since man first crowned himself "The Big Kahuna," and a worthy addition to your collection, no less.

Tadaa! Eine Premiere! Das erste Surf-Spiel für unser aller Lieblingswürfel. Man könnte also ohne weiteres behaupten, dass Kelly Slater‘s Pro Surfer momentan das beste maritime Extremsportspiel auf dem GCN ist. Doch diesen Titel hat es sich nicht nur wegen seiner Monopolstellung in diesem Genre verdient, sondern weil es ein durch und durch gut designtes, leicht zugängliches Spiel mit enormem Dauerspaß ist. Da müssen zukünftige Konkurrenten erst einmal gleichziehen.

Kelly Slater‘s Pro Surfer ist vor allem für Fans der O2- Reihe interessant. Das Spiel kann das Warten auf Tony Hawk‘s Pro Skater 4 zwar verkürzen, ist aber noch lange kein voller Ersatz.

Instead of using past mediocre surfing games as an excuse for cutting corners, Treyarch has risen above and created a surfing game that exhibits a high level of quality in every facet of its execution. Extreme sports buffs looking for something totally original may be a bit disappointed, but the game's responsive control, consistently good visuals, and diverse gameplay will ensure that most anyone will end up enjoying this one.

No less than two years ago, surfing games were a joke. There simply wasn't a surfing experience more fun to play than California Games on the Atari Lynx. But with the mainstream culture's steady acceptance of extreme sports, thanks to the X-Games and movies such as Z-Boys and Dogtown, developers like Krome Studios (Sunny Garcia Surfing) and Angel Studios (TransWorld Surfing) have tried their hands at making good surfing games.

Kelly Slater nous prouve qu'il est le roi du surf aussi bien dans la vie que sur console. Pas vraiment original dans le fond mais parfaitement adapté à la discipline, Pro Surfer prouve une nouvelle fois de tout le savoir faire d'Activision en matière de sports extrêmes.

Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer es, sin duda alguna, el mejor juego de surf hasta la fecha, pero queda muy lejos de lo que llega a ofrecernos Tony Hawk. Aún así, no os dejéis llevar por la nota final. El realismo de sus olas, Es el clásico título que no puede faltar en las "kedadas" consoleras con los colegas. Hasta el amigo que nunca se ha acercado a una consola porque piensa que los videojuegos son para chiquillos, no podrá evitar "fliparlo" con el juego. El mayor problema de todo el juego, radica en su precio, más de 67 Euos, que lo convierte automáticamente en algo solo apto para muy fanáticos del surf.
