Fighting Fans will rush to get their hands on this, the best fighter in the world! Only Sega and AM2 could be responsible for creating seamless gameplay, graphics, depth and excitement like this in the home. With titles like this in the first round, there will be no excuse not to get the Uberconsole... "I look forward to our next bout!"

Features the ultimate in gameplay and depth. The once stunning graphics have been eclipsed by competitors however. VF fans: don't think twice before picking this one up. Non VF Fans: this one's faster gameplay, evade technique, and new interactive backgrounds may win you over.

The rock solid gameplay is what carries this title, so forget the concept of bells of whistles. I know Soul Calibur came out first and stole a great deal of the Virtua Fighter 3's thunder. Furthermore, VF3 has never been the most appreciated game this side of the pond, but I can't say it enough: give this game a second look. There's nothing wrong with this game. It looks great, plays like a dream, and has the best sense of hand-to-hand combat to be captured in a videogame, period.

Virtua Fighter 3TB is a nearly perfect port of an excellent game whose ideas and innovations are no longer the trendsetters they once were. For Joe Blow on the street, Soul Calibur is still the better choice, but Virtua Fighter fans will find all they need neatly wrapped in this package. Highly recommended if you know what you're doing.

Virtua Fighter 3tb is not for people who can't deal with games that don't have the very best graphics or effects. All in all, Soul Calibur puts this game to shame in the visuals department. Where VF3tb earns its money is in the gameplay. For the diehard fans of the VF or complex fighting games in general it's a diamond in the rough. Simply put, if you can only buy one fighting game for the Dreamcast then it needs to be Soul Calibur. But if you can afford to buy two or more and enjoy complicated fighting games with lots of depth, then Virtua Fighter 3tb is an excellent choice.

With a number of minor issues and a graphic engine thatâs beginning to show signs of age, one might be quick to dismiss Virtua Fighter 3tb at first regard. Delving further into the title proves that, although this one doesnât live up to the full potential of the coin-op machine from which it was spawned, itâs still the deepest, most potentially engrossing realistic fighter on the market. Thanks to the power of the Dreamcast, the patience of Virtua Fighter fans has finally been rewarded with the most respectable port from the series to date. Virtua Fighter 3tb may not be up to the challenge of knocking Soul Calibur from its perch, but it still packs a wallop.

Early impressions of forthcoming Sonic Adventure are very good, and more performance will certainly be wrung from Dreamcast in the future, as with all hardware. However, Virtua Fighter 3tb is an addictive and attractive piece of software, which gets close to replicating the output of a high-end coin-op board with seemingly little trouble. Every new console needs a killer app for its launch, and in the face of little opposition, this is Dreamcastâs.

If you're taking your Dreamcast seriously from the get go, pick this one up. Use the one-player game to brush up your skills, then enjoy endless rematches against friends who are also willing to spend the time becoming worthy challengers. If you're after something more flashy, wait for Soul Calibur.

If you are a fan of the series or if you love fighting games, you will get more out of this game than casual fighting fans. The sluggish feel of the game was a turn off to me. Oh yeah, the game also does not support the use of the analog control stick. What is up with that? On the bright side, the game will offer up some challenging gameplay. You will not finish it in a single evening, that is for sure. I suggest renting it to see if the fighting style fits your gaming style.

It's a sad thing, but this game took so long coming home, that other fighters have long since surpassed it. Everything about this game screams greatness, but it's knocked out cold by a new generation of fighters that just run this game right over. Of course, those VF fans are a dedicated bunch and will most likely buy it regardless of this review. Just make sure to buy Soul Calibur too.

This is a game that is best suited for fighting game aficionados who are always looking for a new and unique approach to the genre. Realism is the crux of this title and as such it is a very meat and potatoes approach to fighting. For fans of the series, and those looking for a more realistic fighter Virtua Fighter 3tb offers a very satisfying experience, but for those who like the fireballs, and glitziness this game may be a shade too plain.

In the end, Virtua Fighter 3tb isn't a bad game, just an old game. Without anything new and different to offer, this game is a truly mediocre title for the Dreamcast. With a machine capable of so much more and designers who have already proven their worth (i.e.
The action is a bit sluggish compared to other fighters, but the fighter movements are smooth. One interesting new feature is the "first person" camera angle, but as it turns out, it's pretty worthless. And who did the announcing in this game, Marv Albert? Virtua Fighter fans will force themselves to like this game, but in truth, this is not a standout Dreamcast fighter.

The Holy Grail Of Fighting Games
by MasterMegid (870)
The Good
Virtua Fighter 3: TB, hit arcades in around 1997. It was assumed that it would be ported to the Sega Saturn, however, Virtua Fighter fans would have to wait two years for itâs home release of the Dreamcast. Fortunately, it was well worth the wait.
In Virtua Fighter 3, 12 Virtua Warriors are available. 10 classic, 2 new. As well as two secret fighters. Once again the Virtual fighters from all over the world compete, for the title of the worldâs greatest fighter.
In Virtua Fighter 3, as in previous versions, the fighting is fluid and very realistic. Perhaps the most realistic you will find in the realm of video games. Punches, kicks, grapples, throws, and blocks are all motion captured, and look incredible. Virtua Fighter was the first franchise to make use of motion captured technology. The controls are tight as a drum, as we have come to expect from the series.
And unlike most fighters you must block attacks to survive in VF. The TB, or Team Battle, is a feature in which up to three Virtua fighters can team up. This was also a first for the series and for fighting games in general.
The Graphics are much improved over the Arcade. They still are not the best, considering the considerable power of the Dreamcast. But lighting effects and realistic looking hair and clothes help. The stages are well designed and all have a unique look. From the top of a building, to a subway station, that you may recognize as the subway from Virtua Cop 2, to a Pagoda.
The sound and music department does the job. The sound effects are well used. Particularly, the bone cracking thud of the combos. The music is good, but sparse.
The Bad
There are not many modes of play in Virtua Fighter 3, but fighter games are not supposed to be about modes are they? The Graphics could be better as well.
The Bottom Line
Virtua Fighter 3 is one of the best fighters on the Dreamcast, which is quite a compliment considering how many there were on the console. It is often overshadowed by bigger titles, but Virtua Fans know that this is were itâs at.
