Jimmy White’s 2: Cueball is a highly polished and playable snooker and pool simulator. Although that said, it does seem a little odd to be playing a game on your Dreamcast that you could just as easily be playing down the pub with some buddies. Single player gets old quickly unless your utterly fanatical about snooker or pool, but multi-player is a lot more fun. Its nothing like as good as the real thing of course, but with some mates, some beers and some heavy farting, its close.

Perhaps this game won't be at the top of everyone's shopping list, but it's definately worthy of consideration if you are a pool or snooker fan and can't get to a real table. The addition of several mini-games adds to the overall experience and the rooms are well designed. Jimmy White's 2 is slightly let down by some graphical deficiencies and average sound.

Ich habe glücklicherweise noch einige Freunde und gehe deshalb bei weitem lieber in die Kneipe ums Eck, um nach ein paar Bierchen eine Runde Billard (sofern's noch geht...) zu starten, als mich alleine zu Hause vor dem Fernseher zu hocken. Doch über Sinn und Unsinn von solchen Simulationen wie Billard oder Flipper lässt sich ja vortrefflich streiten... Wer allerdings auf solche Games steht, wird mit einer adäquaten Simulation bedient, die bis auf einige ärgerliche Patzer ziemlich gut gelungen ist.Dennoch: Überlegt euch trotz unserer hohen Wertung genau, ob Billard am Screen das Richtige für euch ist.

El mayor problema del juego es que su control es demasiado senisble, y cuesta horrores ajustar la dirección correcta, pero si perdonáis este defecto (y os gusta el billar, claro), podéis pasar muy buenos ratos.

Ultimately, though, Jimmy White’s 2: Cueball fails drastically to ignite any kind of life, let alone atmosphere, into a sport which isn’t even really a sport, and is far from fun and enjoyable to play. Graphically it’s hardly testing the Dreamcast’s power and the playability is hardly up there with the greats. If you really must play then you might as well pop down the local snooker or pool hall and do the real thing, at least it’ll get you out of the house!

Ich spiele selbst gerne Billard und bin immer wieder von neuem gespannt, wie diese interessante Sportart auf den Konsolen umgesetzt wird. Diesmal wurde ich enttäuscht, denn gerade dem Dreamcast hätte ich mehr zugetraut. Zwar bietet dieser Titel eine Menge Abwechslung, aber die so wichtige Spielbarkeit wurde meiner Ansicht nach kläglich vernachlässigt. Fans sollte das jedoch nicht vom Kauf abhalten. Ein bisschen stört mich auch die Synthi-Musik auf Bontempi-Niveau. die mich an schlechte Midi-Files vom PC erinnert, und die detailreiche, aber ruckelige Grafik. Diese muss sogar dem Billard-Mini-Game in Shenmue Tribut zollen. Muss ich noch mehr sagen?
