Description
Enigma is a code breaking game similar to Mastermind. The player is tasked by the CIA to open an enigma briefcase by using a code breaking machine called Rosetta. To break the code the player has to enter a sequence of three to eight lights (depending on the level) in different colours. After submitting a guess the machine will respond with information on how many of the colors are present in the solution and how many of them are also in the correct position. The player then keeps making guesses until finding the correct solution.
Some special features exist. When starting out the player has access to a punch card which at any time can be used and will then give the correct for one light. More punch cards are received by solving codes with more than three colors. There are also monkey wrenches which the adversaries can throw into the machine at any time. There are three possible effects of the wrenches: one row/guess is skipped, the info on previous guesses are erased or the player's score decreases. Monkey wrenches can be disabled but that affects the amount of points that can be scored.
