Blackwood Crossing
Description official descriptions
Young Scarlett wakes up on a train... not quite sure where she's going, or if all this is even real or just a dream. The game constantly moves through locations that couldn't coexist which makes the world the game takes in quite surreal, constantly not sure if all this is a dream, an illusion, a stream of memories, or something else entirely. The story primarily focuses on Scarlett and her younger brother, Finn, and their relationship. Is Finn real? Is he dead? What made Scarlett and Finn feel so far apart? And who is that strange looking Rabbit creature appearing all around the places? The questions will pile as the story proceeds, but will also get answered until it all starts to make sense in the end. Seeing how the game takes place in a surreal world, game will present other unexpected surprises such as giving Scarlett the ability to control fire.
Blackwood Crossing is a first-person adventure game that feels like a walking simulator, but it provides more than just walking around, observing, and triggering events. There is no inventory screen, but Scarlett can pick up certain items and browse them and use them at specific location. Constant puzzles require to be solved in order to move forward with the story. There are several other recurring characters throughout the game that don't always directly speak to the player, but rather exist there as a memory in time and place. But the memories and words are scrambled and it is up to the player to often trigger them in the right order to find out more about what happened and propel the story forward. During certain dialogues there are options to reply, but not in a way of a sentence, but rather in a way of selecting the character's disposition which will trigger certain kind of reply, though it won't affect an overall story.
